“The more I heal myself, the more valuable I am as a resource to bring healing for others.” -Allan Vonkeman
Allan is an experienced healer and this podcast is sure to provide you with a consilient perspective on resilience. He weaves various knowledge systems, intuition, and storytelling with spirituality and service. Allan has a Graduate Certificate in Executive Coaching from Royal Roads University, a certificate in Human Resources, studied Traditional Native Teachings and done extensive training in Critical Incident Management, Body-Mind Therapy, and spiritual traditions. Allan shares his experiences in policing, trauma support, the after-effects of 9/11, First Nations and Shamanic Training, and his personal work in an eloquent and relatable way for us to learn from.
This episode provides us with a profound and personal perspective on life and what we can do when things are out of our control. Allan shares a key to understanding Resilience by explaining the 3 things that prevent us from being Resilient: Expectations, Entitlement, and Control. Although we do not have control over our environments, we can benefit from being of service to others. I hope you enjoy this podcast as much as I did because these intimate and beautiful conversations are healing on many levels.
Here are some additional tools Allan uses for Resilience:
-Be compassionate to me, all arising within my emotions and to others
-Releasing all I can release especially related to expectations and control
-Spending daily time in Nature to connect to the interrelated aspects of my being
-Look for the beauty in life and people as it unfolds around me. Silience.
Silience (noun): The kind of unnoticed excellence that carries on around you every day, unremarkably—the hidden talents of friends and coworkers, the fleeting solos of subway buskers, the slapdash eloquence of anonymous users, the unseen portfolios of aspiring artists—which would be renowned as masterpieces if only they’d been appraised by the cartel of popular taste, who assume that brilliance is a rare and precious quality, accidentally overlooking buried jewels that may not be flawless but are still somehow perfect.
Allan is stepping into Eldership to share his wisdom and I am incredibly grateful that the audience of I AM RESILIENT. is able to experience Allan’s wisdom. Additionally, I hope you are able to connect further.
