Liz & Margret’s Smokey Sauce Recipe:
In a large sauce pan over medium high heat sautee one large sweet onion.
Start a second Pot of water for the pasta.
Toss in 3-6 sliced Bavarian Sausages (or your sausage of choice).
Once the sausage is cooked and has a good crisp to it add in fresh crushed garlic.
Add two cans of crushed organic tomatoes. (Liz’s favourite brand is Alymer’s tomatoes)
Drop the heat down to a medium low.
Sprinkle in 2 tbsp of sugar (1 tbsp of sugar per can of tomatoes helps nutrilize the acidity)
Add in 1 1/2 cups of whipping cream.
Toss in Italian seasonings such as Basil or Oregano and a pinch of salt.
Lastly add Cayenne Pepper to taste. (If you have not used Cayenne Pepper before it is recommended to start out with a 1/4 teaspoon of Cayenne Pepper. Cayenne Pepper is most potent when fresh, and can be quite spicy.)
Once the sauce is bubbling gently, serve over al dente pasta.Highlight Reel: How to be a better friend?
