Ideal Remake

Mirror Mirror on the Wall, who’s the most Ideal Remake of them all?

We’re not even THIRD?? Well this episode better start putting up numbers because we went all the way to Loser Like Me and The Home for Wayward OC’s for this week’s incredible guest! Christina Woods (@cwoodsart on Bluesky) wanted to talk about Mirror Mirror and it turns out that talking about overthrowing an evil dictator was EXACTLY the kind of movie we needed to talk about today!

So let’s defeat the dark magic, ignore the poison apple, and look good in the mirror as we remake MIRROR MIRROR!

They’re here… and they have BITS!

Only one thing can protect us from sheer abject terror of CLOWNS! Or is it Klowns? I suppose that’s for the philosophers to decide. Either way it’s the Ideal Remake HALLOWEEN EPISODE!!

For this year’s spookfest, Scott Carelli (@scottcarelli on Instagram) returns to hold Sam’s hand through what is easily the most terrifying extraterrestrial clown based film of the 80s. We’re remaking KILLER KLOWNS FROM OUTER SPACE! So get your balloon animals ready because we’re going in the tent!

We are here because you can NEVER have too many dinosaurs! Although, importantly, quite a few of the animals in this movie, strictly speaking, are NOT dinosaurs. And that’s why we have guest Elli Gonzalez (@nadxiellirosa on Instagram and Threads) to help get everything right!

We’re talking about the MOST RECENT movie that Ideal Remake has ever covered… 2025’s Jurassic World: Rebirth! A movie that should have absolutely relaunched the Jurassic Franchise, but unfortunately did not. But we’re here today and we’re gonna MAKE IT HAPPEN! With DINOSAURS!!!

Screenwriter Julia Bergeron (@JuliaBergeron on the socials) are going to have to figure out how to win this nasty little game called Global Thermonuclear War. There’s a lot of moves and we’re really not sure what the winning one is! …yet

EPISODE 193 (except for realsies!)

The Planet of Druidia has so much delicious air. They probably don’t need all of it. Or even most of it! Luckily the Spaceballs, from Planet Spaceball, are willing to do them a solid and take all that nasty air.

Meanwhile, elsewhere in the multiverse, Dinah Palmisano (@dinahpalmisano on Instagram) joins Sam on a podcast called Ideal Remake to discuss these very events, as recorded on film.

You know how sometimes you’re doing podcast homework and decide that MAYBE you should also watch the 2002 version of a movie, in addition to the 1975 version, and then all of a sudden you have SO MUCH MORE to think about?? Well we’re remaking ROLLERBALL this time, bay-beeeeeee!

My friend Leigh Luna (@LeighLunaComics on Instagram), who also happens to have created the AMAZING book Clementine Fox and the Great Island Adventure, is here and we’re taking about two movies that define dystopia by the distractions they provide! It’s not the Hunger Games, it’s ROLLERBALL! And the only way to win… is to Roller! That! BALL!!

Sometimes you just want your toys to be real. If only there was SOME sort of story that guided us through a world where that was possible! Luckily, thanks to vertical integration at a massive corporation, that’s now possible! Introducing Toy St– no wait… Child’s Pla– NOPE! Not that one either. That’s right! It’s SMALL SOLDIERS!

Miguel Parreno (@miguelaparreno on Instagram) and I are diving back into our VHS shelves to rewatch a movie we grew up with to not only see if it holds up, to figure out how we can possibly remake this movie today! So suit up soldier! Our mission today is an Ideal Remake!

As someone who had never seen this movie, I was shocked, SHOCKED to learn that Chinatown is an absolute bummer. Who could possibly have foreseen that?

Well my guest, Jennifer Lynn Warren (@jenniferlynnwarren on Instagram), definitely know! She walked into my podcast with all the answers. I just had to figure out what the questions were…

Despite it all we had a fantastic time remaking this incredible piece of film history and can’t wait to hear what you think of what we did! And maybe stick around till the very end because of a tiny little announcement maybe?? Who know! Mystery!

I was going to do a series of jokes with programming language to indicate that today we’re remaking Tron! But then I got nervous I might actually mess with the podcast feed by doing that. So… um… WE DID A TRON EPISODE FOLKS!

My guest for this episode is the incredible Jodie Anders (@JodieLeaAnders on Instagram). Jodie is a wonderful person and a spectacular nerd, so why on earth would we talk about anything OTHER than one of the nerdiest movies ever? We gotta go inside a computer to save the company making arcade games?? Hell yeah!

Let’s Tron It Up!

EXTRA EXTRA!! A new threat threatens this great country of these United States. Saucers! Flying in the sky interrupt the heavens! Only one thing can frighten these celestial frights, and that’s good, old fashioned American ingenuity! Oh no… the visitors from space have awoken the dead? Well now that’s a real pickle you’ve got there.

It’s a good thing special reporter Tara Hempstead (@popt_art on Instagram and host of the Celebirdy Tours on Substack) is on the scene with more information. We’re getting reports of Vampires, Zombies, Aliens, and potentially most terrifying of all… COMMUNISTS.

So keep your children and wife safe, it’s time for action! Violent action!
