Ideal Remake

For someone from Tucson, AZ who has actually spent time in Oracle and even AT the Biosphere 2, you’d think I would have seen Bio-Dome a long time ago! But nope!

Luckily the master of all things mediocre was able to guide me through the process. Michael Ornelas of the Fine Dining podcast (@finediningpodcast on the socials) is locked into this movie with me and we won’t be let out until we have our remake! Or a year goes by. Or if we just find a key in one of the windows. But since those two things won’t happen, we better get to work!

So. Godzilla. Obviously it’s about time I covered one of those movies. So why not start with one of the movies that is pretty much universally recognized as “not good.”

But over the horizon, stomping into town, we have Presley Peters (@i_am_the_dude_my_dudes on Instagram), resident lover of all things Godzilla, to help make this a movie that the Godzilla canon would be proud to call its own!

But also, and most fundamentally, Big Monster is fun!

It’s possible to dream of a better and brighter future! It’s possible to hope and to believe those hopes can be achieved! That is what we want everyone in the world to have. And that is what we wished the movie Tomorrowland really got across. Ah well…

In the meantime, Sam Block (@blockinator on Instagram) is here to to try and make it to… the FUTURE!!

And ain’t no robot children that explode are going to get in our way!

Would you like to FLYYYYYY? Yes?

It’s time to take a trip to Transylvania! We’ve heard rumors about a dark presence making themselves known throughout the land… Legend speaks… of DRACULA!!

Thankfully Hugh Jackman and Kate Beckinsdale… or whatever their character’s names are capable of saving us all from vampires, werewolves, weird pod baby vampires, and one very creepy gravedigger!

Only Aurora Lena (@my2t1c on Instagram) can help me figure out this mess, set right the lore, and give us a Van Helsing that we all truly need right now!

You hear the thunder of something in the distance getting closer. The water in your couple ripples from the reverberations of the footsteps. Whatever it is, it’s huge!

It’s Ideal Remake. And we’re BACK for season 8!

And what better way to start off this season than with a journey to Jurassic Park! Joined by Matt Conant (@CinevoreFilm on Instagram) and Lauren Cipollo (@LaurenCipollo on Instagram), we take on the daunting task of remaking a masterpiece!

What could we POSSIBLY do? Where do we even begin? And also do we even TALK about our favorite dinosaurs?? (No. I forgot to ask.) But the episode is great and you should listen!

It’s time to get in the holiday spirits by talking about everyone’s favorite green guy! I wanted to make a Grinch joke here, but that’s something puny Banner would have done. Instead we’re talking about THE HULK!!

It’s the final episode of season 7 of Ideal Remake! So why not end the season with a smash? Yousif Nash (@vaderfan on BlueSky) is a huge Hulk fan! So why not watch the movie that could have put the kibosh on the green man’s entire film career?

There are a lot of things going on in this movie, unfortunately they’re all either happening at once or not at all. So let’s break it down, expose them to some gamma radiation and really make something that can leap into the sky!

Zardoz! ZARDOZ! ZARDOOOOOZZZZZ!!

Anyway Zardoz is a floating stone head that descends from the sky. As ya do. And it is also a GOD!! We believe in and follow the will of Zardoz. Zardoz gives guns and tells us to kill a bunch of people. So that’s… that’s a god for ya!

But what Zardoz REALLY wants is for me and Ian Webb from the Movies “So Bad They’re Good”, Midnight Cult Classics, and Camp podcast to remake this sci-fi movies starring Sean Connery from 1974! And if that’s what Zardoz wants, then that’s what Zardoz gets!

You find yourself sitting at the airport with your spouse. You’re waiting to go to France. Neither of you want to go. Neither of you are happy. And how did you even get here?

Two for the Road is a look back at the various stages of the relationship between Audrey Hepburn and Albert Finney. Corsica and I decide to look at the various parts of this movie and see if we can’t come up with an Ideal Remake!

But we’ll have to jump around in time so that we really understand where we’re at!

Let’s say that you’re a baby. A cute one for sure! And a fairy drops by to grant you a gift. And that gift is to be obedient to everything that you are ordered to do. That’s not… do you really have to take that gift? Well… it’s either that or become a squirrel! Looks like obedience it is!

Semien Abay (@semienabay) returns to Ideal Remake to let Sam know exactly how different this movie is from the book, and together we find a way to make the book into a more faithful adaptation. We laugh, we cry, we learn that the gift of obedience sounds AWFUL.

What was the fairy Lucinda thinking??
