Ideal Remake

At long last a movie that’s all about cardio! Assuming your knees are up for it.

We remade The Running Man! And we’re getting this in just under the wire so we don’t even know how much Edgar Wright crushed it yet!

It’s the far off, distant future of 2017. The United States is run by a gameshow host who kills people for ratings. *clears throat* So… yeah.

But at least we had fun remaking it! I am joined by Ian Ager (@IanAger on the socials) to give this gameshow a real boost before mid-season sweeps! Can we get the ratings we need to avoid becoming contestants ourselves? Let’s find out!

So there’s this comet right. It’s a once in a lifetime, maybe ALL lifetimes, event to get to see it! So, like, obviously we’re gonna go out and see this comet. BIG MISTAKE! Now you’re red space dust! What’s that? You were just around but didn’t actually look at the comet? BIG MISTAKE! Now you’re a zombie slowly turning into dust!

The fate of humanity is in the hands of whoever happened to be completely protected by some sort of steel infrastructure. I just hope you didn’t leave the vents open!

Returning to Ideal Remake is Jake Hoolihan (@KinoTripper on Instagram and YOUTUBE) and they will definitely be the right person for the job of definitely NOT LOOKING AT THE COMET. For sure this time. Hopefully.

For a movie/franchise called “Uncharted” there sure were a lot of maps/charts…

And that’s why Alex Caine (@foodandhippos on Instagram) is returning to Ideal Remake for yet ANOTHER video game movie! It really was time to cover Uncharted. After all, it came out all the way back in 2022! That’s slightly over three years ago! So long!

So obviously the time is now. And for those of you who are big fans of these video games, don’t worry! Alex has played all of them, liked three of them, and gets me through most of the important points I think!

Winner winner chicken dinner!

And that is exactly how you should feel about getting to listen to this episode! That’s right, episode 175 of Ideal Remake is 21! Numbers are fun. At least our main character thinks so. And he’s going to take that love of math all the way to Vegas and try to win BIG!

My incredible guest for this episode, Xu Mason (@hellotherexu), has some STRONG opinions about this movie and did the absolute MOST research in order to back those opinions up with FACTS. And, in the end, isn’t that what gambling is all about?

So there’s this baby. It might be, unironically, the greatest baby actor that I have ever seen in a movie. My perception of how good a baby actor could be in a movie has had the bar set from when I was nearly a baby myself.

Because Baby’s Day Out is an absolute TREASURE!! I watched it CONSTANTLY as a kid! And I am very excited to talk about it today with incredible writer and wonderful person Andra Whipple (Adam Ruins Everything).

This movie is GOING places and we’re just trying to keep up!

Imagine a guy. Like a guy’s guy. Just the most dude-guy-bro who ever was a man.

Yeah we’re not doing that version of this movie. We’re doing our OWN version! With empathy! And listening! And possibly also some small dogs for comedic effect and also so I can hold them.

We remade What Women Want with guest Alix Sternberg (Supergirl, Full Out 2: You Got This!). We have some thoughts, and we’re going to try to share them with you so you don’t need to go through some comical mishap granting you the ability to hear those thoughts.

And truly, isn’t that what all women want?

This is a movie about stealing a diamond! And then stealing it again. And again. Aaaaaand again. But they’re definitely good thieves! They promise! So it’s perfectly fine to trust them with this helicopter.

We’re remaking 1972’s The Hot Rock, starring Robert Redford. This is a hard movie to track down, but writer Brian Nelson (Hard Candy, 30 Days of Night, Altered Carbon) insisted that this was the remake we needed to make happen! And you know what? We DID!

I am certain that this movie is going to be remade eventually. I couldn’t possibly predict when that remake will be coming out, so just to be safe, we better release this episode this week.

I invited back my friend Amanda Barnes (@itsamandabarnes on Instagram) to have a solemn and dramatic conversation about one of the most silly comedies to ever comedy. The pressure on this next sentence to be funny is so high that I’m afraid it was arrested and thrown in jail by the lead of this movie.

He’s the kind of uncle we all wish we had but don’t necessarily want to be ourselves. That’s right it’s Uncle Buck! One of the lesser-known John Hughes movies despite it being the John Hughes movie that means the most to me!

But I found someone who also loves giant pancakes, bowling, and John Candy and that is Myles Warden! Myles (@reallymighty on the socials) and I remade Uncle Buck and we cannot WAIT for you to make the commitment, after EIGHT YEARS, and finally listen to this with us!

You remind of the pod. What pod? The pod with the power. What power? The power of remakes. Remakes? Remakes. Remakes! Remaking on this pod.

Uhh… so anyway we’re remaking Labyrinth this episode! Emmy award-winning writing Shannon Peace (@citizen.peace on Instagram) and I are talking muppets, contact juggling, and everything we can think of that made the movie Labyrinth so amazing!
