Ideal Remake

At the premier of his college play, an old woman approaches Richard Collier and hands him a pocket watch. She says “come back to me,” and then leaves. Little did Richard know, that in order to find the love of his life, he would need to travel through time.

That’s Somewhere in Time! Christopher Reeve stars as Richard Collier in a bid to be seen as a true leading man outside his Superman cape. And he does a wonderful job! But do Scott Carelli (@ScottCarelli on Instagram) and I have what it takes to rebuild this movie from the ground up?

I say that we DO! This is an excellent episode and I hope you all enjoy it! After you go and watch the movie, of course!

He’s a man of disguise, intrigue, and just being a super rad spy. He isn’t instantly recognizable as a 7ft tall, super jacked, Austrian man. No no no! Don’t be silly! Arnold Schwarzeneggar stars in True Lies! And also he’s married to Jamie Lee Curtis and she has no idea that he’s a spy… Oops.

WGA Award-winning writer Micki Boden joins the podcast to talk about this very silly, but action-packed movie! Can we figure out some sort of awesome adventure for our super spy to go on? For sure! But he’s also going to need to sort things out back at home.

Absolutely nothing is better than living on a space station! Or at least, that’s what Zenon believes! Zenon is an adventurous 13-year-old who loves her friends, family, and home. But when all that is threatened by Capitalism, Zenon has to do whatever it takes to save everyone! This would be a lot easier if she wasn’t grounded.

Writer Celeste Klaus (@celestemarie14 on all socials) joins us for the first time to talk about this DCOM (Disney Channel Original Movie) that was so impactful on her (and Sam’s) childhood! This is a movie that they each watched whenever it came on the TV. And it was so much fun to talk about it again!

DCOM’s are a very special part of many millennial childhood’s, so can Celeste and Sam be SO good at remaking it in this episode that they get to remake one for REAL?? Only time will tell!

He has the skills to win at absolutely any game of chance. If anyone knows when to hold them or when to fold them, it’s him. But he also hates having his pictures taken, so no one knows what he looks like. But they have all heard the legend… of the God of Gamblers!

Dianne Bloom (@DianneBloom on Instagram) returns to introduce Sam to yet another movie that he should have heard of a long time ago. God of Gamblers is a Hong Kong action comedy, relying on the gun-fu that Chow Yun-fat is known for. And it’s a lot of fun!

Do Dianne and Sam have what it takes to win big with this episode, or will the house take it all? Listen and find out!

The time has come! And then it went… Oops. Luckily we have time travel, so there’s absolutely no reason we can’t abuse it for our own personal gain!

Ideal Remake returns for Season Seven and what better way to start than with TIME COP!!

Ian Ager (@IanAger on Instagram) joins the podcast for the first time to talk about this all-timer from Jean Claude Van Damme! Will we have what it takes to get this episode completely right on the first attempt, or will we have to go back and do it again and again until we do? Find out in this week’s remake of Time Cop!

It sure has been a year! But one of the things that’s been bringing me consistent joy has been this podcast. Thank you all so much for listening! That’s a wrap on season six and I look forward to bringing you more fun remakes in 2024 with season seven!

But a final, HUGE thank you to everyone who took the time to be my guest this season:

One of the greatest comedies ever made. An absolutely all-star cast that pulls in just about  EVERYONE in comedy at the time. And we’re going to try and remake it!

Michelle Iannantuono (@Octopunkmedia on the socials) joins the podcast to talk about her all-time favorite movie. And who can blame her? A group of motorists witness an accident and hear the last words of a man telling them where to find incredible wealth. Of course it’s a race to see who can get there first!

It’s a Mad Mad Mad World is absolutely incredible! And the world is only getting madder!

It’s 1997 and Michael Douglas is a Wall Street-kind guy. Can you even believe it? But something in his life is missing. And even he, as rich and as powerful as he is, doesn’t know what it is. And that’s when his little brother comes along with an invitation to play… The Game.

Sean Lavery (@SeanLavery78 on Instagram) joins the podcast for the first time to introduce Sam to this David Fincher thriller. Can Sam handle it? How would they both fair when faced with challenges like this. And, most importantly of all, who do THEY think can handle what CRS has in store?

Would you believe that the reason Bugs Bunny is eating a carrot, why we even BELIEVE that rabbits enjoy carrots, is originally based in this movie? Well that’s what happens when you’re the original screwball comedy! That’s what happens when you put together Claudette Colbert and Clark Gable! And That’s What Happens… One Night!

It Happened One Night is an incredible piece of our comedic film history! And I had the opportunity to plan out an Ideal Remake with WGA strike captain and all around fountain of joy: Joelle Garfinkel!

Joelle (@Joelle_Garfinkel on Instagram) kept all our spirits up while we were striking at Radford Studios, and she brings that level of hype to this episode. Enjoy!

Did you know that there’s a movie out there with Matthew Broderick and Marlon Brando? And Brando is reprising his character from The Godfather? I sure didn’t, but boy was this a lot of fun to find!

Novelist and all-around fun person to be on strike with, Ben Crane, suggested this as his movie for the podcast and we had a blast both watching and then remaking it! Matthew Broderick is a freshman at NYU, gets mugged, and then finds the craziest job… being a courier for The Godfather!

And if that sounds absolutely wild… just wait till you hear what we did with it!
