Ideal Remake

You hide in the shadows, shunning the moonlight. You seek help from your loved ones, but there on the palm… a pentagram! You know who your next victim will be. You tell them to run, but you know it will be of no use. For you’ve just caught sight of the full moon… and have begun to change…

We’re remaking the classic Universal monster movie from 1941… THE WOLF MAN!! And we’re talking about werewolf lore, mixed results in a remake, and what shampoos are best for your fur to maintain its healthy shine! Scott Carelli (@ScottCarelli) returns to close out October.

We discussed ghosts, then vampires, and now…. WEREWOLVES!!!!

Looks like we’re going to be discussing yet another movie where the main characters leave Arizona and move to California. It’s like… how is The Lost Boys just like my life?

Well we also have two amazing guests for this episode! Scott Carelli (@ScottCarelli) keeps the spooky vibes flowing and brings in her writing and podcasting partner Nick Jimenez (@NickmJimenez) to really get to the core of what makes for an ideal The Lost Boys Remake!

Is it the vibes? Is it the missions inspired by comic books? Or is it that this would be a perfectly fine episode if it weren’t for all the damn vampires?

Did you know that Robert Downey Jr. had a whole career BEFORE he was Iron Man? Crazy, I know! But it’s true!

This week’s guest, Scott Carelli (@ScottCarelli), suggested an oft forgotten movie called Heart and Souls from 1993. It’s got an absolutely incredible cast, and is one of the sweetest movies I’ve ever seen. SO first of all, do yourself a favor and let yourself watch the movie Heart and Souls! And then Scott and I will be back to give you a glimpse into how we image an Ideal Remake would go!

We know what EVERYONE has been looking forward to MOST about next year! That’s right! It’s an ELECTION YEAR!! Wooooooooooo! So why not get the party started with the movie that solidified Robert Redford’s career: THE CANDIDATE!

This satirical look at a 70s election will absolutely make you realize that we have been fighting for a lot of the same things for more than 50 years. SO FUN!! But Dianne Bloom (@Dibster) is here to help us figure it all out and get it RIGHT this time.

So get registered to vote and then listen to our Ideal Remake of The Candidate!

Hey man, we’re making that movie that takes place at the height of the old West. Do you think one “Wild” will do it? Because three is DEFINITELY too many! You’re right! Let’s go for two!

We’re taking a crack at the giant-spider movie itself… WILD WILD WEST! And it wouldn’t be possible without this week’s guest: Chris Lord (@Lordopher on Instagram). Chris loves absolutely everything James Bond, and if you need a refresher on that, listen to our James Bond remake! So who better to remake what is basically James Bond in the Old West?

Plus if you like tangents… BOY do we have some tangents for you!

What’s that? Some crazy guy stole a car? And is going on an increasingly hazardous joyride?? Well I better put down this lovely coffee I am having a café and step out into the almost apocalypse of the original Mad Max to try and stop him!

Max is a cop. He’s angry. And then when his partner is brutally murdered he… quits? Huh. Oooooh we needed to fridge his wife and child! NOW he’s back and LOOKING FOR REVENGE.

Kevin Mosteller (@KevinMostellerMusic on IG) returns to Ideal Remake so that we can remake the 1979 classic, the ORIGINAL, Mad Max!!

Don’t get me wrong, we LOVE the first one. That movie is (nearly. We’ll get into it.) flawless! But the sequel… ehhhhhh has room for improvement!

And that’s where Amanda Barnes comes in! (@itsamandabarnes on Insta) Together we took this movie that is one of the worst sequels we know and made it one of the BEST!

We’re going back to the action, intrigue, and the punching UP instead of punching DOWN. We remade… KINGSMAN: THE GOLDEN CIRCLE!!

Oh sure, your family might be weird. But are they weird enough to be super secretive and leave you a mountain of wealth beyond your imagination? And then are they even WEIRDER than that to demand that you actually go and spend all that money in order to get even MORE money!!

Well Brewster is about to find out that his uncle was EXACTLY that kind of weird.

Brad Bultman (@actingbradley on Instagram) is here to help me sort out this whole legal mess and make some frivolous plans as we lay out to ideal way WE would spend Brewster’s Millions!

Take a second and look at this poster for Beverly Hills Ninja. Have you found it? Have the wave after wave of nostalgia for every Blockbuster you ever stepped into crashed over you?

Good! Because Semien Agaby (@semienabay on IG) is here to help us recapture that glorious Chris Farley magic as we remake this 90s comedy!

I don’t know if we have what it takes, but hopefully our truly gifted brother will be in the shadows, guiding us and cleaning up after any mistake that we might make!

I like to be… under the sea… in a little hideaway above the waves!
He’d let us in… knows where we’ve been… attacks us with his giant squid tentacles!!… near a cave.

We’re talking about the absolute classic 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea! And lemme tell ya, this movie really holds up! It was a very fun watch! So my guest, Presley Peters (@i_am_the_dude_my_dudes on IG) have our work cut out for us figuring out how best to Ideal Remake this one! Luckily Presley is a big fan of the book!

So we’ll find our way to the promised shore of a remake… and hopefully that shore won’t explode!
