Ideal Remake

Not content with their being SEVEN of these movies, Hollywood has seen fit to remake the first Police Academy. And you know what? It’s probably time.

Sam sits down with Paul Laier (@PaulBrawl) and Kamaran Scholl (@KamDeYoung) to talk about what works and what doesn’t work in the original.

They ALSO may go on a sidenote about Angie Tribeca. Which, honestly? Is a great show. You should watch it.

And Police Academy. What a movie of its time! Let’s sit down and see if we can’t make it Ideal!

OBEY. THIS PODCAST IS YOUR LIFE. OBEY.

We are talking about They Live! The classic John Carpenter movie starring Rowdy Roddy Piper about how we’re just mindless slaves to commerce in a world controlled by aliens!

And we’re joined by the creator of Detroit’s Cinema Roast Crunch (@CinemaRoastUNCH) Brett Hayden (@BretHayden1T)!!

This is a super fun cult classic of a movie that tackles some cultural commentary that is still relevant all these years later. Give it a listen!

DO IT. LISTEN.

And on a sadder, but also an optimistic note, this episode is going to be Mike’s last episode with the show. He’s decided he needs to work on some projects of his own. We’re super excited to see what those projects are! But for you, the listener, if you would mind taking the time to go to Mike’s Twitter (@OfftheMike) and thanking him for something he’s done that you’ve enjoyed, either on the podcast or not. And please use the hashtag #ThanksMike! Mike has done so much amazing work for the show and I’d love it if we sent him off with a bang! See ya next time!

If you listen to this podcast, you’re gonna see some serious shit.

Because we’re talking BACK TO THE FUTURE!!

Back to the Future is one of those perfect movies that should never be remade, BUT if it must be, we brought in the expert. Scott Carelli, of Back to the Future Minute (and many other things), helps us break down what’s amazing about the original, and what we’d need to do in order to have a CHANCE at a remake.

Back to the Future is such and amazing movie, that it won’t be easy. In fact, this is going to be seriously heavy.

Mike got a chance to see some of his oldest friends play a gig. Those friends make up the band Rebel Spies! They’re an amazing group who just so happens to have created the music we use for our Ideal Remake theme song!

So give it a listen and enjoy!

This podcast rates about a 9.0 on my weird-shit-o-meter.

Because today we’re talking Men in Black! Men in Black is one of Sam’s all-time FAVORITE movies. But, growing up, it was ALSO one of his all-time FAVORITE Saturday morning cartoons!

And today we are joined by the amazing comic and all around great-guy Brett Mercer (@Brett_Mercer_). Brett wanted to talk about Men in Black because it’s one of the… three? movies he’s seen. And we were happy to oblige.

So sit back and enjoy the podcast! Oh, but one thing, you have to promise not to flashy-thingy us. Promise?

Surprise, we’re trying out mini episodes! If you haven’t already heard, there’s a pretty great facebook group for Ideal Remake. Paul Duggan posed to the group what they would do with a remake of Se7en.

Mike and Sam loved it so much that they decided to tell you all about it!

Do you like this mini episode? Should we do more? Let us know!

It’s PODCAST WEEK! And this time we’re good at everything! We’re brain surgeons! Rocket pilots! Musicians! Scientists! People the President Just Calls for Reasons! Alien Fighters!

We’re watching BUCKAROO BANZAI!!

It is a movie.

And we are joined by the ever delightful SAMANTHA RAGER (@SGRager)!

Both Mike and Samantha LOVE this movie. And Sam… can’t really understand why. It’s a ridiculously fun back and forth that we really enjoyed making and you will really enjoy listening to.

And if you haven’t, watch this movie. The level of bonkers cannot be believed.

It’s a mystery! Mike and Sam are back at it with special guest Ryan Budds (@ryanbudds & @TriviaWithBudds) to talk about one of the movies with a recently announced remake: Clue! Together they discuss what would and would not be needed in order to make this remake successful!

OR

Mr. Bobbitt and Colonel Gasch are joined by Dir. Budds. They delve in the hidden corridors and and passageways of cinema glory. They talk about trivia and murder mysteries and what makes Mr. Bobbitt such a tender lover.

OR

Both of those! And also, everyone dies!

Tune in and find out which one of these it is!
