  • Are You Fireproof?

Nobody ever volunteers to walk through a fire. But just like Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, we will all (at some point) find ourselves thrown into a fire. So the question is: are you fireproof?

In this episode of Identity Advantage, Daphne and Angie share the personal stories of their sons who each suffered critical car crashes and how it effected their faith. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego said, "God is able... He will deliver us... But if not..." (Daniel 3:17-18). They obviously knew their God prior to the fire. And this is the key!

The story goes on to say the king was astonished when they weren't destroyed. In this story, the king represents the enemy. Did you know the enemy can be astonished at our faith too?

  • Ashamed

Shame has been a tool of the enemy since the fall of Adam and Eve. But while guilt is a painful feeling of regret and responsibility for one's actions, shame is a painful feeling about oneself as a person. And unfortunately, as long as sin exists, so will shame.

In this episode of Identity Advantage, Daphne and Angie discuss the effects of shame and uncover a truth about how Jesus wants us to deal with the awful feelings that attach themselves to it. Simply put: when we feel guilty about something, it's because we feel bad about what we did; while shame is actually more toxic to our identity because it says we ourselves are bad (regardless of what we did). There is a big difference between the two.

Overcoming feelings of shame are possible. As one person once said:

  • No Pain, No Gain

Nobody likes to hear this, but pain is a teacher.

Life lessons, and many biblical lessons, are learned through pain. It's not that God causes intentional harm or hurt to us, but when we find ourselves in a hard place, the Bible says, "And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose" (Romans 8:28).

In this episode of Identity Advantage, Daphne and Angie discuss how pain is often a crossroad between defeat and victory. And in reality, both defeat and victory will have some kind of pain. But for those who love God, the lessons on the other side are always worth the cost.

  • The Tell-Tale Barometer

Do you know what a barometer is? It's mostly used with weather, but it's a way of measuring pressure and responses to different changes. And it's a great example of what God uses spiritually to help us.

[Tweet "LOVE is the barometer of our faith and maturity."]

In this episode of Identity Advantage, Daphne and Angie talk about the power of love and how it gauges so much of our walk with God. The Bible says God is love. And as imitators of God, love is an indicator of our spiritual growth. In fact, every place that speaks of love in the Bible is a reference to the FINISHED WORK of Christ in us.

In other words, we all have God's love in us. The choice is ours to let it mature and lead us.Click here to Download Episode

  • What If You Developed Your Spirit on Purpose?

If you can develop your body on purpose, what would happen if you developed your spirit on purpose? This is a great question.

In this episode of Identity Advantage, Daphne and Angie share personal stories of when they made conscious choices to follow their spirit (the part of them filled with the Spirit of God) instead of their flesh (their mind, will or emotions). It's a daily battle and opportunity.

The bonus is when you decide to position yourself to hear the Word, you also discover pieces of your destiny! Paul said in Galatians, "Live in the Spirit..." (5:25). The rewards are so great!

  • Righteousness in Honduras

If you haven't figured it out yet, the devil uses the same bag of tricks on every person --and in every country and culture.

In this week's episode of Identity Advantage, Daphne is joined by ministry friends Nadia Madrid and Esti Ortega, all the way from Tegucigalpa, Honduras. Daphne had the pleasure of being an instructor at xPloreNations Bible Institute on the topic of (you guessed it) righteousness. Here's a glimpse of what you'll hear:

Is righteousness understood differently in Honduras than other places?
What's the biggest hindrance for people in your culture in understanding righteousness?
(Our favorite question for guests) How did you discover the advantage of knowing your identity in Christ?

The amazing thing about this podcast is the common thread that is woven in our lives, no matter how we were raised or where we came from. Jesus said, "For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved" (John 3:17). Jesus is not the accuser or the condemner.

  • Wake Up & Take Your Place

It's RESURRECTION WEEK! That means our thoughts are on what Christ did for us -- more specifically, how we were raised us up with Him! Ephesians 2:4-6 says, "But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus."

In this episode of Identity Advantage, Daphne and Angie discuss how some people's spiritual lives look more like a person who's under anesthesia than of someone who's been raised from the dead! To be under anesthesia means you're alive but out-of-it. Yet this is no way to describe our life in Christ. Paul said in 1 Corinthians 15:34, "Awake to righteousness!"

  • How Do You Respond to Persecution?

What do you think of when someone mentions persecution? Do you see it as something broad (like nation against nation or religion against religion)? Or does it hit closer to home? Either way, persecution is real and how we respond to it is important.

In this episode of Identity Advantage, Daphne and Angie talk about the real challenges that come with being on the brunt end of an attack or disagreement. More specifically, the question is asked, "Does persecution tempt you to change into someone you're not?"

The Bible says, "And all who desire to live godly will suffer persecution" (2 Timothy 3:12). So it seems there's some territory we can't avoid, but there are keys to handling it in a godly manner.

  • Has Your Struggle Become Your Identity?

It's not intentional, but sometimes life defines us -- or at least, tries to -- through our struggles, situations, and circumstances. But for the person who knows who they are in Christ, their identity is found in Him (only) despite their struggles.

In this episode of Identity Advantage, Daphne and Angie talk about the dangers of letting outside circumstances define and label you. Paul said concerning Jesus, "We no longer know Him by the flesh... Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is new..." (2 Corinthians 5:16-17). In other words, we've been given something new to identify with!

  • A Leap of Faith

One author said, "When you have come to the edge of all that you know and are about to drop off into the darkness of the unknown, faith is knowing that one of two things will happen... that there will be a something solid to stand on or you'll be taught to fly" (Graham McNeill).

Life often feels like this -- unknown. What then?

In this episode of Identity Advantage, Daphne and Angie talk about taking a leap of faith. Hebrews 11 & 12 remind us faith is meant to propel us. The Bible often speaks of believers going from "faith to faith and glory to glory" as a reminder that in order to see more of God, our baggage must be dropped and our trust must increase.
