So Lloyd Pierce is now former coach of the Atlanta Hawks.  And Rick Carlisle, coach of the Dallas Mavericks tells us he's a great Democrat.  Who the hell cares about that?  He's a coach, not a politician!  His record and his relationship with his players is what got him fired.  Yet Rick goes on to say this...“Georgia, in very large part because of Lloyd’s work and commitment, went from being a traditional Republican state to a Democratic state – not only in the electoral college vote in the presidential election, but also in the runoff elections in January, which has massively changed the landscape of our country,”  Are you effing kidding me?  What is going on here?  I'll tell you what.  In today's rant.

So the highlight is that Buddy Hield has scored more three pointers faster than any other player.  1000.   Cool right? Wrong.  Who cares?  The Kings had yet another meltdown in the last minute of the game against the Charlotte Hornets and lost again.  They're on track to be the worst defensive team ever in the NBA.  No, it's not all Buddy's fault, not at all, but this think about getting to 1000 threes  faster than any other player, really?  You tell me who you would rather have on your team that can shoot threes.  Consistently.  Regularly. Oh... and win games too.

Yeah, you read that right.  Two mayors going at it over Russell Wilson of the Seattle Seahawks.  New Orleans Mayor, LaToya Cantrell fired off a tweet "recruiting" Wilson to her beloved New Orleans Saints.  Is that even a legitimate thing to do?  In any event, Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan fired off a fabulous response that, well, would quite possibly be a move worth attempting.  Hear what she said on my rant today.

So which team in the NBA scores 77 points in the first half and 63 in the second? Shoots 60% from the field and 50% on their threes?  Gotta be one of the best offensive teams in the league to pull that off right?  And sets a franchise record doing it too.  Nope.  That would be the lowly New York Knicks.  The WORST offensive team in the NBA.  But, they were playing the Sacramento Kings.  Seems almost nobody on the team cares enough about playing defense, or even trying , simply to prevent the embarrassment.  Utter humiliation.

"Our lives begin to end the day we become silent on things that matter."  That's not my quote but the discussion I want to have today.  Martin Luther King said it.  And isn't it so true?  If you're a public figure today every move has to be calculated.  Everything you say has to be politically correct or you'll be cancelled by those who disagree.  Isn't it time we just reached out to people different than we are and tried to understand where they're coming from?  I share a story about a 39 year old African American woman I met in today's podcast. She has made an impact on my life and that story can repeat itself in any city with any person of any race at any time.  I hope you appreciate what I'm saying today.  It's impacting all of us.

Load management they call it.  It's the term for players getting paid to not do their job.  That's right.  Millions of dollars to sit on the bench and just take a break.  Rest.  What a crock of crap that is.  Fans come to see healthy players do what they're supposed to do and that is play hard and win.  Not to see their favorite player kickin' it on the bench while the team is getting beat since they're not out there.  And how about once in a lifetime fans who can't afford multiple tickets bringing their kids to see that favorite player play and that's the night he decides, or he and the medical team decide it's a good night for a break.  Rest.  LeBron is who LeBron is arguably because he knows he's paid to play.  Michael Jordan, same thing.  These guys don't rest.  They play.  I've got a little more to say about it in today's rant but if you want to be the best in the game, let me tell you, the best don't rest.
