- 4.11 - Defining The Odds Stacked Against Me - Nicole Howard
This week we have the honor to hear Nicole (Winkler) Howard tell her story.
Nicole was born and raised in Covington, Kentucky! She is an alumnus of Holmes High School - upon graduating high school, at the age of 18; Nicole experienced an unexpected pregnancy. Little did she know, her daughter Juliet, saved her life.
Being a single mother at such a young age taught Nicole many life lessons. There are so many stereotypes for teen moms - but that did not stop Nicole from conquering her goals. Through all the ups and downs, Nicole obtained her bachelors degree from Northern Kentucky University and her Masters Degree from the University of Louisville both in Social Work.
Currently, Nicole is a mother of two daughters, a wife, and a licensed Social Worker. She serves as a Case Manager at the Greater Cincinnati Behavioral Health Services.
Nicole is a true testimony of breaking down stereotypes and barriers placed upon people. She is one the strongest people I have ever encountered.

Sam was born and raised in Ormond Beach, Florida. Growing up Sam’s life was filled will many obstacles, but she dug deep and continued to push forward. Upon graduating High School, Sam went on to attend Florida State University where she obtained both her bachelors and masters degree in social work.
Currently, Sam lives in Cincinnati, Ohio where she works at Cincinnati Childrens Hospital - one of the best in the country. On top of that, she has her very one private therapy practice as well.
During our conversation, we really take a deep dive into Sam’s story. We learn about all her trails and tribulations, but most importantly we learn about what ignites her why.

During his time at Ohio State, Ryan truly discovered who he was but also realized he wanted to further his education by earning his Maters Degree in Climate Change and Environmental Policy from the University of Leeds which is located in England. Ryan lived in England for a year before moving back to the states.
Currently, Ryan is a freshman science teacher and also serves as the Head JV Boys Soccer Coach at Holmes High School.

Maydson was born and raised in Covington, Kentucky. She graduated from Holy Cross High School where she was a dual sport athlete. She played soccer and softball in high school. Maydson currently is Holy Cross High School’s all-time leader in hits, home runs, RBIs, stolen bases and runs scored.
Upon graduating from Holy Cross, Maydson attended James Madison University to further her athletic career to play D1 Softball. She was a four-year starter at JMU and graduated with her bachelor’s degree in Sport and Recreation Management.
She recently just got ENGAGED (congrats) and is a private investigator for Greater Cincinnati Investigation. During this conversation, we take a deep dive into Maydson’s phenomenal story and her journey outside of softball. We truly learn about her and what ignytes her why.

He’s spent the last few years finding his way in higher education, currently he resides in Gainesville, Florida and serves as the Assistant Director of Transition Programs and a professor at the University of Florida.
During this conversation, we learn more about Ty’s story of growing up as a Black Queer man, but really understanding how to love yourself! Ty is the perfect example of what it means to love yourself. We also understand what truly ignytes his why and his purpose in life.

Although Montez ultimately decided to stop competing collegiately, he did not walk away from sports! Mr. Taylor is the freshman boys soccer coach at Boone County High School.
