In this episode, Ilan Wurman, Associate Professor of Law at Arizona State University Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law, discusses his new book "The Second Founding: An Introduction to the Fourteenth Amendment," which is published by Cambridge University Press. Wurman begins by explaining his concept of constitutional originalism and how it applies to the 14th Amendment. He discusses the concepts of due process, equal protection, and privileges and immunities, and explains how his interpretation differs from the conventional wisdom. He explains why his interpretation is more consistent with the original meaning of the 14th Amendment.
