We have a woman on the show for a first time. DEI score officially going up. Loved this conversation with Brooke. She recently left a corporate job and is moving towards entrepreneurial pursuits. We discussed a few things including corporate culture and its positives and negatives. We talked about her journey leaving corporate culture and what she plans on doing now with the experience and connections she has. In this episode I speak about the influences of Globalism in general and a few aspects of life and culture that globalism permeates, like language. We discuss globalism and its relation to architecture and how architecture is metaphoric of greater shifts in our culture happening as a result of globalization. The positives of globalization in architecture, business, and non-places of utility is discussed (airports, hospitals, McDonald's). Those are then countered with the negatives, such as a lack of local influence, soul-crushing efficiency, and one-size-fits-all approach. A discussion about what values go into these decisions is had, and then we finish with a discussion of examples of globalism and international business being a part of local architecture through McDonald's Restaurants and how that shows what we can do as a species into the future for a culture built for humans.
