  • Episode 49 - Memoirs

Mem•oir: a collection of memories written by the person themselves.

We may have had to lookup the difference between a memoir and an autobiography, but semantics matter to us here a iipyb. This episode we've got two very different stories for you. Rachael covers a book about how to find yourself. Her story is all about rediscovering yourself, trusting ourselves, and unleashing our truest selves. Kristia's book is a heavy one and comes with a trigger warning of sexual assault, rape, and the trauma that goes along with being a witness at trial. In her story, we learn more about an event that most of us followed along in the media that enraged many.

April showers bring May flowers... not sure what the book equivalent of that is, but it's our last April mini and we're a bit bummed. Thankfully we've got a pretty good one to talk about. This one is all about first love, awkward interactions, being the new kid, and takes us back to how it feels to be in high school.

  • YA It's Another Mini!

It's 3 mini month, so for this episode Rachael and Kristia read the same book. For Rachael it was a reread from high school but it was Kristia's first time through. The book's got it all, adventure, friendship, tricks, romance, heartbreak, threats, and really awesome hoverboards. In true YA fashion the book is a quick read and is part of a quartet so the adventure continues!

  • Episode 45 - Birthday Books

Spring, St Patty's Day, Aquamarine birthstones, Rachael & Kristia's birthdays, what more could you ask for out of a month?! As Match babies we obviously had to celebrate with all of you, so this episode we each gifted the other a book for their special day.

Rachael's got a murder mystery that's very reminiscence of Serial. It's got a very detailed senior project, a missing (presumed dead) blonde girl, small town cops, and a best friend on a mission. Also, turns out this ones got a sequel!

Kristia has a modern day witch/ghost - what better way to track a dead witch than with an iPhone. But of course the teens of the town want to fight back against an emergency degree thinking they know better than the thousands who have come before them. Bad things happen.

  • Episode 44 - (Don't) Judge a Book by it's Cover

We did it. We know we're not supposed to but rules were made to be broken. This week we each picked our books based solely on the cover, and buckle in because it's a long one. Kristia went on a journey of self discovery and wasn't a huge fun, there was a lot of journaling involved. Rachael had a some historical fiction which quite a few interesting names to say the least.

We give you permission, go judge a book by it's cover. You're welcome.
