We’ve had multiple types of guests on this podcast, but never a pet trainer. Tanya is no ordinary pet trainer. She discovered this passion through her love for learning, and her constant need to study a particular aspect of this passion enabled her to grow and grow more in this role. Through such learning, she has established herself in this field for ten years and has taken on multiple clients. Despite dealing with demanding clients, the love for what Tanya does outweighs all of this.

In the fifth episode of season 8, we were joined by OCD advocate, Shaun Flores, to speak about his advocacy work in this field. Shaun grew up with a bedrock of ideas which he fulfilled despite the cost this brought him. That cost was his constant pursuit of achievement, while not being satisfied by such achievements, poor mental health and ultimately intrusive thoughts. Yet, since his diagnosis of OCD, he wants to use this to raise awareness of this disorder and for his story to be someone else's healing. Through the conversations he has had and the articles he has written, this has made a massive impact in the advocacy space and has helped plenty of individuals.

In this episode, we spoke to Shaun about living with OCD, how speaking about his story has helped him and the side to OCD that nobody talks about.

In the fourth episode of this season, we were joined by powerlifter, photographer and business owner Emmanuel Onimowo to speak about his passion for powerlifting.

Emmanuel has many passions, but the primary one is powerlifting. The first time he went to the gym with his brother, it ignited a flame within him to pursue this sport and pursue continuous progress within it. He has been able to compete in competitions and achieve outstanding totals in his squat, bench and deadlift, and he is focused on competing in future contests. And yet, amazingly, he's still able follow his other passions, including architecture, photography and his clothing business. Emmanuel is an individual defined by focusing on the process over the destination and was an absolute joy to interview.

We also covered what powerlifting involves, the importance of having a creative outlet, regardless of what it is and the golden rules for pursuing a passion.

In this great podcast episode, we were joined by APD advocate Adalyn Smith.

Adalyn grew up during her early years, struggling to understand why she found it difficult to understand people’s instructions and follow things at school and other day-to-day regularities. When she was diagnosed with an auditory processing disorder, it clarified her struggle and how she could manage her condition. It isn’t easy living with this condition, which Hamish knows fully of as he has the condition, but they have found ways to use their platforms to highlight this condition. From doing her first post back a few years ago to being a regular speaker on podcasts and live streams, Adalyn has grown as an individual and an advocate for those with the condition.

In this conversation, we spoke about the toughest part of having APD, how Adalyn’s page has evolved, and the lessons she has learnt the most during her advocacy work.

Lucy found her love for dancing at a very young age, and it allowed her to escape from the reality that she was in. She always dreamed of owning a dance studio, yet she lacked the confidence to go full ahead with this dream. However, through a moment in a car, she figured out the name of her studio, and the rest was history. Since starting LMA studios in 2017, Lucy has been able to create a sense of belonging for those who attend the dance studio and be a role model for future dancers.

In the last episode of season seven of this great podcast, we were joined by entertainer, actress and comedian Amanda Lynn Baez about why she puts her all into comedy.

Amanda was born an entertainer, yet something was holding her back. She would go through an identity crisis in her early years where she didn’t know who she was and where she came from. Amanda was a person without an idea about what she wanted to bring to this world of passion. Yet, when going to university and picking up a class, that was when her journey into comedy truly started. Amanda started performing at stand-up clubs in New York, such as Gotham Comedy Club, Caroline’s, and Broadway Comedy Club, by age 20. She would receive numerous compliments from people like Kenny Warren and eventually put her all into what she truly loved.

Ahmed grew up in the North East of Nigeria, where he quickly fled his homeland due to the takeover of Boka Haram, an Islamic terrorist organisation. When escaping the country, he was taken by an unknown individual into the UK at 14, where Ahmed was left in the country with no home and no idea what to do. He became an asylum seeker and was homeless for some weeks before being taken into care. Living in care helped him massively, yet, more bumps were coming Ahmed’s way. However, through such hard work and determination, he was able to give back to the community through various initiatives and the formation of his non-profit You Vs You. Ahmed hopes his story can inspire anyone going through challenges that there is light down the tunnel and that those around you can allow you to thrive and become the best version of yourself.
