  • Preparing for War
The Bible is explicit: We live in a world of distinct opponents; our very lives are a battle. Yet too many Christians lose more battles than they win and endure their walk with God rather than enjoy it because they don't recognize the enemy when they see it. More importantly, they have no idea how to respond. While society tells us we can react simply, the truth is that a wish, a hope, and a prayer are not the best responses to attacks from those who stand between us and the Father. Christians must be strategic in their reactions to these clearly defined enemies, learning how to fight biblically and effectively rather than just sincerely. Join us as our guest provides a guidebook for defense that is simple, biblical, and transferable. Come with your questions on the warfare around us.

  • Pointing to the Messiah
The concept of a "messianic hope" in Israel is widely thought to be merely a postexilic scriptural phenomenon, and some say the apostles engaged in what one writer called "a creative exegetical enterprise" in order to justify it.  But without direct Messianic prophecy in the Old Testament, one of the essential arrows that Jesus and the apostles (as well as the later church) used to defend the messiahship of Jesus is removed from the quiver of contemporary Jewish missions. Furthermore, many New Testament texts are drained of significance that see Jesus as perfectly fitting a mold that the Old Testament writers built text by text. Our guest will correct these interpretations and show how the OT continually points to Christ.

  • Getting Past the Pain
The deep pain of childhood abuse – physical or emotional, whether a child was neglected or wished nothing more than to be left alone – doesn't just go away. There's simply no just getting over it. Even if no physical scars remain as evidence of the victim's suffering, the deep emotional wounds are still there. But it is possible to become whole and happy. Today, our guest will help listeners understand the effects of childhood abuse on their emotional, intellectual, physical, relational, and spiritual health. He will help us gain an understanding of God not as a frightening authority figure like the abuser or an accusing judge, but as a loving creator, redeemer, and friend.
