Like it or not, as humans we are emotional beings. Most of us were never taught how to actually process our emotions in a way that allows them to move through us leaving behind only the information we need to reach our goals.
Instead we’ve learned unhelpful patterns of repressing them, avoiding them, shoving them down, numbing them, or overreacting to them.
