Chris Ballard tried to explain negotiations with Quenton Nelson by denying and positional importance.  Nelson, a guard, is not as valuable, and that's how the NFL works.  Ballard certainly knows that.  Saying only that Nelson is "special" clouds the obvious.

Sam Ehlinger has a spot on the 53-man roster - for now!  Chris Ballard will now begin phase two of the roster build, which is to pour over those waived or released by the other 31 teams.  

Shaquille Leonard removed from the PUP List which means his return is imminent.  

Former Colts waived and released include Le'Raven Clark, Joe Haeg, Henry Anderson, and Taylor Stallworth.

Paul Justin was the last backup to start a game on a Colts playoff team.  That was in 1996, so let's stop talking about Nick Foles and Sam Ehlinger!!  Cut Day is a very sad day in the brilliantly constructed NFL calendar.

Ehlinger should not occupy a spot on the 53-man roster unless he projects to win a game this season - or is likely to become the starter for the Colts in 2024!  It's that simple!  

Colts fans must resist the temptation to believe their eyes after watching a preseason where Ehlinger led the NFL in passer rating with an astronomical 147.8.  

The initial cuts are coming by tomorrow at 4p, but fringe players not cut shouldn't unpack yet!

Colts play tonight in the most meaningful of their three meaningless games!  Can any game when a Colt can try to drive Tom Brady's ribs into the turf be meaningless?  Is Colts -3 1/2 a reasonable wager?  Should fans bet with their heart?  Jonathan Taylor to 2,000 years might be fun to watch, but only if you don't mind losing as a result.

Colts were not helped by statistical evidence last season, but there is one number well worth paying attention to, and it is something Matt Ryan has been very good at.
