Optimism Wednesday is for best case scenario indulgence, and Matt Ryan being sacked less than 40 times would unlock a lot of doors. Kwity Paye and Yannick Ngakoue getting double digit sacks would close doors for the opposition!
(at 10:36) Colts GM Chris Ballard told Dan Dakich today that "media criticism never bothers me!" I should believe him, but can't because he claimed it doesn't.
(at 12:20) What to watch for against the Bills? How about injuries - that's it. Nothing else will matter - especially not the score!
Want a tip - given the choice to bet the Colts to win the AFC South at -125 and the Jags at +700, I take the Jags all day long.

Colts defense was outscored 157-97 in the fourth quarter last year, and it cost them a trip to the playoffs, and maybe the Super Bowl! Gus Bradley has come to Indy to change that, and he better. No practice today, and that works because the weather is terrible in central Indiana!
(at 11:14) Butler plays a pro team in Greece at 8:30a this morning and you can watch at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TEDPrSWP544
(at 11:47) Cubs saying goodbye to Jason Heyward - and it's about time. Fans love the story of his pep talk during the Game 7 rain delay, but it would have been nice to see him hit a little bit too! www.busr.ag

Each year we buy into the Colts being better, and in five of the last seven seasons the Colts finished outside the playoffs. Is this finally one of the few years where we know what we are talking about. Whether the supposed upgrades are actual upgrades will tell the tale!
Is Ryan better than Wentz? How about Pryor over Fisher? Gilmore over Ya-Sin or Pierce over Hilton?
(at 15:47) Pete Rose is the impossible topic! If you favor Rose going into the Hall of Fame, you reward an inveterate gambler and a guy who dated a 16-year-old when in his 30s. Yikes!

Pierce is being challenges on his release by some very grabby cornerbacks! Stephon Gilmore is balling and the defense remains ahead of the offense. Drops don't phase Matt Ryan as much as mental mistakes.

Matt Ryan, not perfect, but good. Colts defense was not perfect, but they were good too! Andrew Ogletree has performed very well over the first nine days of camp. So have several others!

Frank Reich vague about a return date for Shaquille Leonard, but insists he is making great progress. Rodrigo Blankenship makes a 56-yarder in practice - the kicker might be the season maker or breaker this year. Storms in the offing - practice today could be moved indoors.
(at 10:12) Adam Vinatieri named NFL's best kicker - only Colts on a list without so many of the best ever.
(at 11:55) Phil Mickelson and other LIV greed merchants suing the PGA because rich guys always refuse to accept consequences.
