Director, Writer, and Producer Nicole Riegel joins Sophia and Nick to talk about her feature directorial debut, “Holler.” The film is a semi-autobiographical story that follows a young woman, Ruth, who joins a dangerous scrap metal crew to pay for her education and the chance of a better life. Nicole, a fellow Ohioan, recounts her journey from growing up in small-town Jackson where her love for movies began to joining the military and her initial reluctance with attending film school. She also shares some behind-the-scenes production notes from “Holler” and why shooting it in her hometown added a layer of intimacy that helped deepen Ruth’s story.
IFC Films is releasing “Holler” on Friday, June 11 in select theaters and On-Demand/Digital.
