Ajahn Pasanno encourages us to investigate the cause of suffering - desire for sense pleasure, for becoming, for non becoming (tanha or thirst). What does it feel like? How does it manifest in the body? Understand the process of mental volition, the movement of the mind as a nutriment for suffering. What am I adding to this particular moment? Does this result in freedom from suffering or another layer in the mind’s tendency to proliferate, to complicate? If we keep seeking something more, we suffer. If we understand the process of mental volition, we can understand the three types of desire. If we understand the three types of desire, liberation is right there.
