Irish Breakdown

It's "We In/We Out" day on IB Nation Sports Talk! That means Irish Breakdown is answering questions about Notre Dame football and more, with all questions submitted by our Champions Lounge premium board subscribers. Today's questions include:

* ND will have at least one wide receiver earn at least 3rd team All America honors from at least three of the five “official” all America lists. We in or we out?

* Notre Dame's combination of young and inexperienced OL give up 6 pressures or less week 1 against an elite DL and stellar defensive mind in Mike Elko. In or Out?

* So Joe Alt was an elite pass protector before Joe Rudolph came to coach at ND. Taking Alt out of the equation, ND’s OL pass protection grade as a unit was a C+ or better last season. We In or We Out?

* It’s reasonable for a fan to believe – as I do — that A&M has at least a 50% chance to beat ND due to: home field advantage, their QB being way better than anyone realizes, the ability of A&M’s DL to potentially dominate our OL week 1 (when was the last season ND’s OL looked good week 1 against a defensive unit with above-average talent, and the overall positive vibes in the program with Elko and the excellent coaches he’s hired. We In or We Out?

* There will be at least 2 true freshmen in starting lineup or rotation for USC. We In or We Out?

* Kyngston Viliamu-Asa wil be the starting Mike LB by late October. We In or We Out?

* CJ Carr will be backup by season end? We in/ we out?

* We In or We Out on having a succession plan instead of a national coaching search?

* As it currently stands, there is no actual trap game on the 2024 football schedule. Are we in or are we out?

Rapid Fire topics include:

* Buy or Sell the performance of the new offensive tackles as the most important position group question Notre Dame has going into the season?

* We hear comments from Notre Dame 2025 quarterback commit Deuce Knight on a variety of topics, including: The coolest moment he's had as a recruit, why he chose Notre Dame, Irish head coach Marcus Freeman and quarterback coach Gino Guidugli, and being a left handed quarterback.

* When Notre Dame hosts Michigan State in 2026, do you Buy or Sell it as prime time worthy?

* Which all-time Michigan player would you make an Irish player if you could?

* Fill-in the blank...It’s BLANK that Baylor, Indiana, Louisville, Minnesota, Nevada, Rutgers, Tulane & Virginia are selling pairs of tickets (b/w $65.99 to $99.99) for home games thru the membership warehouse club.

* Glenn Powell, who played Hangman in Top Gun Maverick, says the name of his character in the original script was Slayer. They started workshopping new names and Sauce was one of the options before they came up with Hangman. Did they get it right? We come up with some of our own handles as well.
