Although the defense doesn't need as many young players to step up this spring as the offense does, there are some players that have a chance to emerge. Some are musts, others are wants, but the more young players that step up the better.

Notre Dame has a lot of talent on offense, but if the unit is going to reach its full potential it will need a lot of young players to step up. There is plenty of talent and options, but depending on so many young players could be problematic. How well this youth movement goes is going to have a big say on how good the offense, and the team, can be in 2024.

There are a number of Irish veterans who enter a stretch that could be their last chance to make an impact. For some they are out of eligibility, others could find themselves passed up by young players if they don't step up. I talk about Deion Colzie, three offensive linemen, Jordan Botelho, Jaylen Sneed, Tyson Ford and more.

Rapid Fire topics include:

* The 10 FBS conferences and Notre Dame are expected to sign an agreement by Friday to expand the College Football Playoff to 14 teams and spell out the revenue distribution model. The exact format of the playoff is yet to be determined.

* Does Devyn Ford moving from running back to safety this spring makes him less likely to transfer?

* ESPN's Dan Orlovsky said that after watching former USC quarterback Caleb Williams face Al Golden’s Notre Dame defense which has a lot of NFL elements to it, ”You don’t love that tape”. We share our thoughts on that.

* With a 13-20 record, the NIT is likely not an option for the Notre Dame men’s basketball team. Would you accept a College Basketball Invitational or CBI invite if you were the Irish?

* The Buffalo Sabres have notified certain season ticket holders who sell their game tickets on secondary markets that they’ll need to purchase a state-required $5,000 reseller license before they can renew their season ticket membership. We have thoughts on how this.

* The most boring topics a person can bring up in conversation.

* It's National Pi Day. If you could only eat one kind of pie for the rest of your life, what would it be?

There will be a 12-team playoff in 2024 and 2025, but it is expected to expand after that. In this podcast I break down the latest in the negotiations between the conferences. The Big Ten and SEC will get the biggest boost, but a windfall is coming for the ACC, Big 12 and Notre Dame as well.
