Jill Phillips grew up in the early 1960’s in a London that no longer exists. She started life in Lamlash Street, went to school, grew up and, after a few years of working in a solicitor’s office in London, decided to emigrate to Canada. She spent 30 years working here as an Occupational Therapist and hospital manager.
Towards the end of her career, when other people generally start slowing down their lives, she sped everything up. Her own battle against an insecure mindset and self-sabotage became a pathway to new confidence in her 60’s. She divorced, moved, and finished writing her Masters of Occupational Therapy thesis.
Now a published author and speaker, Jill has been checking items off her bucket list (like running a 5k!) and she’s helping others do the same. Her book, Lamlash Street: A Portrait of 1960's Post-War London Through One Family's Story, tells the story of the strength and resilience that we all have, but don't realize till later.
Watching her mother go against the popular trends led Jill to do the same thing, questioning the "norm" and showing other women - all people, really - that we can do whatever we set our minds to, at any point in our life.
