Comfort Khumalo Keil is no shrinking violet, she was born in a small town called Hlatikulu in Eswatini (formerly known as Swaziland). Her mother was a schoolteacher and her father a government employee. At a very young age she found herself divorced and in a dark place and with nowhere to go and with a UK visa in her hand she flew to the UK for what she believed was going to be the start of a new beginning. But that new life never really transpired, in fact quite the contrary, nearly destitute and with more failed relationships to her name she left for the USA, but again her life there followed a similar disappointing path. Canada called, life there was on the up, but not without setbacks, nevertheless now in a sustainable relationship Comfort returned to the USA and now lives in Tucson Arizona.  She’s a wife, and a mother of three enjoying life’s activities such as, reading, writing, travelling, cooking and doing all the normal things a contented person does in life. Throughout her somewhat tumultuous life the two things that have remained constant and are still important to her today, are her steadfast faith in God and the firm belief in second chances coupled with an ethos of never give up, a message that comes across strongly in her book. A book all about her.

The Books

It’s All Because of my Mother:
That my Story had an Auspicious Beginning…

Second Interview March 25th

Eighteen chapters of exhilarating story telling based on Comfort’s memoirs of her mother and how that relationship impacted on her own life. It’s a rich and varied read with fascinating aspects of African culture, history and traditions rubbing side by side with modern life. However, two poignant messages from Comfort’s mother drawn on her own experiences and practises that comes across in the book are, ‘education is key to a better life,’ and ‘love comes in many guises not necessarily through affection, but by providing the basics to survive.’

In this second interview out of the eighteen chapters we’ll focus on the following which should give you a strong indication as to the book’s overriding subject matter.

Chapter One: Born Strong-Willed
Chapter Three: Personal Space
Chapter Five: My Mother Accepting Another Woman
Chapter Seven: Possible Darkness Following My Father’s Rivalry
Chapter Eleven: My Mother’s Ideologies – Extreme Warnings
Chapter Thirteen: My Mother, My Hero…
Chapter Sixteen: My Mother’s Relocation- Off to South Africa, Yay!

The Indebted Beneficiary of Countless Second Chances
My Treacherous Broken Journey

First Interview March 13th

A life so far, wrapped up in thirty-one exhilarating chapters; you might well ask yourself how one person in such a short time can experience so much. Well! Comfort Khumalo Keil has, for this book is her story laid bare, the adventures, the pitfalls, the relationships, the homeless days on the streets, the men, the abuse, the money and the lack of it, the journey’s travelled in search for a better life, plus lots more. However, the two things that sustained her throughout her turbulent years are her faith and the belief in second chances, to which believe you me this author has had many. Her journey starts in Eswatini, formerly known as Swaziland, then to the Uk, followed by the USA, Canada and back to the USA. When you read this reservoir of anecdotes that portray her early years, you’ll be left aghast, but the overriding message to the narrative foretold here is quite simply “Never give up, and firmly believe in God’s overall sovereignty, for there is always light at the end of the dark tunnel.”

What a read this book is, if Comfort Khumalo Keil was a famous Hollywood star around the time when Jackie Collins was writing her books about Hollywood wives and had chosen to write Comfort’s story, she would easily have had another best seller on her hands. So, embrace this book especially the poignant conclusions right at the very end of this dynamic book on page 603. Yes 603! It’s a big book, for Comfort has a lot to say in her debut novel.
