  • Ep114:When you feel "Gaslighted by God" Pt2- Tiffany Yecke Brooks, Ph.D.
    PART 2:
What do you do when the Christianity you signed up for is not the Christianity you feel like you're experiencing?  "Religion" has conditioned us to just keep your chin up, don't ask why, keep pressing on, and eventually God will come through.   That may work for some small moments in life, but eventually life's hardships will hit and you might find yourself a little broken and confused about your faith.  WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN YOU FOLLOW THE RULES AND it seems like God doesn’t ?
In this episode & the previous, we dive into a very REAL topic of what to do when the "formula" of following what you've been taught a "Good Christian Does" leaves you with confusion instead of the rescue or bliss you expected, and how to process the pain and disillusionment that can attach to your faith in those unexpected moments.  The good news is, God is still good, even when it doesn't feel like it, and his word is still true. (Just ask David in Psalms!) But the journey of really UNDERSTANDING that God is good, still present, and still FOR YOU can be messy, and that's ok.  Author Tiffany Yecke Brooks shares about how “deconstructing” your faith and asking God hard questions can be the greatest journey for rooting your faith even more deeply in the authenticity of knowing God for who He really is, and not limiting him to the religious genie our human natures can try to reduce him to.

This is part 1, where we tackle some things like:
-Why well intentioned Christians can end up hurting in their faith and how to navigate that
-Why it's not really helpful to just take whatever your Pastor says as gospel truth, but instead, to go and test it.  (The Bible actually tells you to!)
-Some commonly believed misnomers in the faith that create burdens instead of freedom
-What ACTUALLY is legalism and how to identify it in our belief systems.
-And a great life hack for writers!

  • Ep112: Thriving in Hardship: Surrender vs. Resignation w/Author Aimee Walker
We were built to thrive.  Jesus saw a broken world we were born into, and created a pathway to thriving, and hearing and leaning into his voice is essential to that.  However, this pathway doesn't make us immune to hardships along the way, but it does create a vehicle of overcoming THROUGH it.  My guest Aimee Walker shares her incredibly moving story of how through MULTIPLE difficult situations, the Lord walked with her relentlessly, giving her tools of overcoming, gave her his grace and compassion in her darker moments, and taught her soul how to breathe again.
    In this episode we tackle
    Surrender Vs. Resignation
How to hold strength and hope by knowing your Core Beliefs that are Non-negotiables
How even your menial seasons of invisibility are gently and carefully the seasons when God is crafting in you both the skills and the courage for the greater moments he has for you.
The super helpful illustration of the Palm Tree and how remaining soft in hardship IS Possible... through surrender.
That God will heal and restore your soul, and bring back the desire to dream over your life again!
    And so much more!

  • Ep111- Listen: How a Pastor got Schooled by Holy Spirit w/Author Allen Chapin
Few things change our lives in a profound, pivoting way, but hearing God's voice is one of those things.  Author Allen Chapin shares in this episode about a challenge God gave him that totally wrecked him in the best way possible.  In fact, he decided to write a book about it!  In his book "Listen", Allen walks the reader through his experience as he obeyed the Lord in this challenge of getting up and hearing HIS voice first, before ANYTHING, everyday, for 365 days.  His book makes room for the reader to take their own "Listening" journey too!  In this episode, he shares a very personal glimpse into how this process changed his life, and how the simple practice can change yours as well.  Let's dive in... and don't forget to go grab your own copy of his book on Amazon to get your New Year started off in a life-transformational way!  In fact, grab an extra copy for a friend for Christmas or their birthday (you know, those people who are always hard to buy for), and play a small part in them experiencing a totally transformed year too.
    -------------------------------------------------
    ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Allen Chapin has served in full-time ministry for more than 25 years as youth pastor, university staff, denominational leader, evangelist, author, blogger, and lead pastor, but he would rather be known for who he was designed to be: a guy who simply loves and encourages people, offering them grace and hope as he helps them get on the path God has for them.
Allen has been happily married to Angela for more than a quarter of a century. And he has the privilege of helping raise two of the finest sons ever known to this world in Alex and Austin.
He is the author of 3 books— “Listen”, “The Upside”, and “I Got A ‘D’ In Leadership: Anyone Can Lead”— on his way to writing st least 10 books in 10 years.

  • Ep.110- Hearing God in Words of Knowledge w/Jenilee Samuel
This popular episode replay is a throw back to Season 2, and it was on my heart to bring it back out! If you've never heard my other training episodes on learning to hear God's voice, you can go check them out at episode 12 & 13, or 37-40, or just go here:
The Reality is, we all CRAVE a supernatural life.  One that ebbs and flows with the Spiritual side of life, because we all HAVE a spirit.  This is important because God made you with HIS spirit, and as a result, there will always be a part of you, of us, that crave a reconnect with His spirit, until we find it.  The Prophetic, or simply put, hearing Gods' voice and seeing his mental pictures are the simplest way to do that, but it must come through a relationship with Him.  In This episode I talk specifically about receiving words of knowledge for people or situations, which is when God shares a bit of information with you that you wouldn't naturally know. The purpose in this is to encourage, edify and build up the person he is speaking to you about, and to drive them deeper into a connected, intimate relationship with Jesus.
Jump on in, and let me know what you think! Share this episode with a friend and come back next week for an interview with Author Allen Chapin who wrote the book "Listen" where he shares not only his journey but leads you on your own journey of Listening so you can hear when God is speaking.
