Cliffdiver formed in 2018. They are from Tulsa, Oklahoma & have released 1 Full Length LP "Exercise Your Demons" on SideOneDummy in 2022. 2 - EP's before that as well as a cover of X-Ray Spex 1977 classic, "Oh Bondage, Up Yours" featuring Stephen Egerton. Cliffdiver have toured with Bowling For Soup & Less Than Jake as well as a stop at Riot Fest 2022 in Chicago. In this Episode, I am joined by the OKC band "Rolling Eyes"...

I host The KATT Local Talent Show, every Sunday Night at 9pm central time on Oklahoma City's Rock Station since 1976, Rock 100.5 The KATT, where i play all Oklahoma music for 2 hours. Oklahoma in general, has a very vibrant music scene, with talent of all genres, from border to border. I got an email from an OKC band called "Rolling Eyes" & they sent me a track called "Void". It instantly reminded me of what was coming out in the mid to late 90's, very reminiscent of the shoegaze sound but its own modern vibe. So i looked into the band more, they didn't have a website but they did have an instagram page & that one song available on Spotify. I played the song on the LTS one Sunday night. Fast Forward to a few weeks later & i'm taking my son Wyatt to guitar lessons, & out walks Logan, whom i hadn't met & says, hey thanks for playing my band! I was kind of shocked b/c i didn't know him so i had to ask what band he was in, & he tells me. Then i find out my sons guitar teacher is also in Rolling Eyes & they were both super excited I played it. It was just a random email from strangers, sent to another stranger, hoping it might get played. This is why i genuinely enjoy hosting the Local Talent Show. When i see the excitement from a band hearing their song for the first time, being played to a mass audience on the radio. It makes me happy being able to do that for so many artists. I told Riley & Logan i wanted to have them on the podcast sometime. So when they sent me their new song "Cosmic Relief", i asked them to come on the podcast & the Local Talent Show to talk about it. This is Oklahoma Music. We discuss other local bands they like, what inspires their sound, recording at ACM @ UCO & their new music as well....

Squid Games The Challenge is currently the #1, most watched show on Netflix. One of the contestants, Number 422 on the show, is Oklahoma City's own, Riley Hahn from the band Soul Crisis. As well as fronting groups like Soul Crisis or being a part of the Deep Donkey Crew, Riley has been a part of OKC's nightlife as a bartender in Bricktown clubs & currently Kong's in Midtown. Soul Crisis released their debut EP in 2012 & have shared stages with Disturbed, Killswitch Engage, Static X, Dope, Lacuna Coil, Spineshank, Hed PE, Five Finger Death Punch & more... Riley discusses how difficult it was going through the casting process to be on Squid Games The Challenge as well as the psychological struggles that took place during the show. We are joined by Andy Brewer of Taddy Porter. I have a love for this band, being there from the very begining to seeing them get a record deal / publishing deal. Watching them tour the country, releasing new music as they continued to grow. In this episode we hear the full story, from the early days, to getting signed, to going back independent & figuring out how to get the rights back to their music. We talk about the pitfalls of working with big record companies as well as the toll you put on your body & mental health constantly being on tour, in a different city, night after night. Taddy Porter is a part of a cool event put on by Canon USA. There is a private event live stream Thursday 11/16/2023 that is geared towards teaching live music photographers & videographers how the pro's do it, which is free to register. Then there is an actual show on Friday 11/17/2023 w/ Taddy Porter & Josh Sallee at the Tower Theater. Proceeds benefiting the Homeless Alliance!
