  • His Special Treasure
His Special Treasure Characteristically, the kingdom of the converted know who they are... and who they belong to, and where they are headed. But there are times when they get distracted, and misplace their priorities and lose sight of sweet joys of being part of God's kingdom. And when they do, because sometimes it happens, God graciously, and lovingly, and tenderly, and, at times, as needed, harshly, reminds them, again and again, who they are, and who they belong to, and where they are headed. What was the message, the point of the illustration? His people, like the defiled and rotten underwear, had become unprofitable, or good for nothing eternally, and God was going to use the Babylonians to destroy Jerusalem and displace the people. "This evil people, who refuse to hear My words, who follow the dictates of their hearts, and walk after other gods to serve them and worship them, shall be just like this sash which is good for nothing. For as the sash clings to the waist of a man, so I have caused the whole house of Israel and the whole house of Judah to cling to Me, says the Lord, 'that they may become My people, for renown, for praise, and for glory (an ornament of beauty that possess a significant message), but they would not hear." • Strangers WITH God
Strangers WITH God Jeremiah struggled with how God could be a stranger among the people. He quickly recognized as he sojourned through the city and land that he too was a stranger with Him. "O the Hope of Israel, his Savior in times of trouble, why should You be like a stranger in the land, and like a [unknown] traveler who turns aside to tarry for a night." (Jeremiah 14:8) "For I am a stranger WITH You (God), a sojourner, as were all my fathers [of faith] before me." ~ Kind David This is the confession of the harsh reality for the authentic believer... who attempts to function on his own understanding and strength, in a world he no longer fits in. The kingdom of the converted are simply outnumbered. They are a strange kingdom, functioning in a world that is densely populated with those that fit much better in this world system than they do. But sometimes these shortsighted and worldly minded people get the best of you. He tried doing life his way... the conclusion was: "certainly every man at his best state is but a vapor. Surely every man walks about life a shadow; surely they busy themselves in vain; he heaps up wealth and material things and does not have a clue who will gather his things [after his death]" (Psalm 39:5-6). Strangers... walking WITH a Strange God, through a Strange world, living with a Strange Hope, serving a Strange Word, by a Strange Means, to a Strange People who know NOTHING of their Strange Life. • The Heart — Its Condition and Need
The Heart — Its Condition and Need No heart is good, without… All men are guilty of living a life of rebellion toward King Jesus until otherwise proven innocent by His unmistakable marks of grace upon their life. Pollution of the Fall (By nature unclean, wicked, & deceitful in every way and everything.) Isaiah 64:6 "But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away." Jeremiah 13:23 "Can the Ethiopian change his skin, or the leopard his spots? then may ye also do good, that are accustomed to do evil." Jeremiah 17:9 "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?" Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.." Romans 7:18 " For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing…" Perishing in the Fall (Self-destructing & lost in sin.) Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death…" Ezekiel 18:4 "Behold, all souls are Mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is Mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die." Hebrews 9:27 "And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:" 2 Cor. 5:11 "Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men…" Promises for the Fallen (Trust the relentless mercy and love of God by turning to Jesus and turning from ourselves and sin.) Titus 1:1-3 "Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God's elect, and the acknowledging of the truth which is after godliness; [2] In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began…

  • Don't Take a Wife
Don't Take a Wife Jeremiah was instructed to NOT take a bride nor have sons or daughters, why? (Chapter 16) What did God take away from Judah? What did He remove from them? The same harshness and horrific message was proclaimed by Jesus (Matthew 23). There ARE incomparable days coming. We cannot take this lightly. We're talking about: Life and death… Grace and gravity of His word… Damnation and deliverance… Parents and grandparents take heed: chapter 2:29- Look at your ways, actions and lifestyles. They responded with, "We don't care, we're going to do what we love and want!" Keep a mind what had happened with Josiah. It looked like a great revival was happening but only reforms took place but it didn't affect the hearts of men. People gathered in conformity but not because of personal convictions and care for being right with Him. The leaders and parents distorted how their children would see Him. You have demonstrated to them I am not worth trusting, heeding and following the Lord. You are so easy prey for the enemy. He doesn't have to fight for you. You, acting by your feelings and have instinctively seek after them enemy. The wrong kind of love does not win… it only corrupts. There is a kind of love that will never fail but it's not a love opposed to God and His truth. #nestingwithjesus #jeremiah jeremiah16 #donttakeawife #jeremiah26 #jeremiah2 jeremiah15 #matthew23 #matthew24 #Jerusalem #nopeace #lovingkindness #removedHislovingkindness #death #sons #daughters #wives #horrific #trouble #sorrow #grief #ramifications #implications #farreachingimplications #drifting #deliverance #damage #helpusLord #1peter6 #forgiven #butHetookvengeanceuponhisdeeds

  • Drifting • Deliverance • Damage
Drifting • Deliverance • Damage Far Far Reaching Implications The big question: Did this message, about the ungodly man (Sennacherib), ever get to him? Did this pointed and precise message get to him? Was the word intended to reach him, in his rebellion, before he answered the call to meet God, face to face, through death? When God tells you the fate of the faithless and the fury of God, a fury and fate they're about to face. This is a far reaching word — that has far reaching implications — that includes a world that eats, breaths, walks, and plays, with no regard to living for God and His glory. God sent a word — about an individual — that would never get that word — about himself — because he didn't prepare his heart to seek God. King Manasseh is no doubt a warning. But he's also a wonder of grace — all wrapped up in one. For those of you reading with us through Jeremiah 15, I want to draw your attention to three things: (1) His drifting. (2) His deliverance. (3) His damage. To get the best picture of these three things I need to point you 2 Chronicles 33 and Jeremiah 15. This passages will help you see the consequences that fell upon the nation, years later, as a direct result to the damage he caused.
Manasseh reigned for 55 years... and for the most part, the majority of those 55 years, he DRIFTED and seduced and deceived the people to follow his crooked ways. Even though he had a living example and legacy of a father, king Hezekiah, that brought great reformation and revival to the land, he rebelled and overthrew everything his father did. (I may share about rebellious children later today.) The description of his life was one of utter wickedness...

  • Go Bury Your Underwear
Go Bury Your Underwear What did God tell Jeremiah to do in Chapter 13? The two trips, there and back twice, over a 1,000 miles, to illustrate a message with dirty underwear. Did God have good reason for this? Yes! Does always have to make sense at the time? No! Does God ever do anything or send His people to do something accidentally? No! When God sends you, is it too extravagant or ridiculous or insignificant or costly, no matter what the assignment is? No! Do we have to risk our reputations at times? Yes! • Refusing to Return… Why?
Refusing to Return… Why? Misapplied grace… They loved what they loved… and nothing would turn them around. …they clung to deceit, (holding fast to lies with every ounce of resolve they had), they refuse to return." Jeremiah 8:5 Why? "…which they have loved and which they have served and after which they have walked, which they have sought and which they have worshiped…" Jeremiah 8:2 "A desire accomplished is sweet to the soul, but it is an abomination to fools to depart from evil." (Proverbs 13:19) They loved what they loved, served what they loved, walked in what they served, sought what they walked in and worshiped what they sought. It was sweet to their soul and nothing outside of a supernatural work of God would free them from clinging to this deceit. These people were all together consumed with falsehood and lies. It was evidence that they didn't know nor want to know the Lord. They were consumed with stupidity and looked more like the nations than a people who belonged to God. Jeremiah 10 says the world we live in, regardless of the intellect, insight or ingenuity, that can't or won't seek God, acknowledge Him as Creator and sustainer and does not yield and give place and priority to Him (the fear of the Lord), is consumed with stupidity. (Jeremiah 10:8,14, 21). #nestingwithjesus #jeremiah7 #jeremiah8 #jeremiah9 #jeremiah10 #isaiah66 #psalms81 #shiloh #eli #samuel #ark #temple #jeremiah3 #ezekiel24 #delightofhiseyes #ezekiel #david #death #esau #rights #idols #stupidity #loved #served #walked #sought #worship #cling #deceit #proverbs13and19 #fools #abomination #ichabod #1samuel4 #trinkets #theylovedwhattheyloved #misappliedgrace

  • The Big Three
The Big Three These Three Things Skies... Scriptures... Self... Our view of the World, the Word and the Wrong in every man — reveals who we know, love and serve. How we see the World, God's Word and Man's Wickedness revels much more about us — than we know what to say about them. So, our understanding of our creation, our creator and our conscience reveals either a wise heart or a brutish heart. (Psalm 19 ; Romans 7 ; Jeremiah 10 ; Jeremiah 9:3) If, how I'm seeing nature's message, nature's Maker and natural man doesn't line up with psalm 19 and Romans 7 I'm missing every major mark in my life. #nestingwithjesus #jeremiah #jeremiah10 #jeremiah9 #romans7 #psalm19 #2timothy2 #howweseeit #whatweseeandunderstand #creationcreatorandconscience #theheavens #theheavendeclareHisglory #romans3 #galatians5 #lawandgrace #law #grace #bananapudding #nicksbananapudding #purposeofthelaw #howthelawworks #theSpiritandflesh #worksoftheflesh #fruitoftheSpirit #howtheSpiritworks #romans6 #2corinthians3 #thejustshalllivebyfaith #mirrors #faith #graceandtruth #graceupongrace

  • Getting Right — Being Fed Right
Get Right — Fed Right The context has to do with backsliding, unfaithfulness, treachery and wandering (or as the passage refers to her/them as gadding/going about with no purpose). I think Chapter 3 helps us see the picture and emphasis on the new thing God's referring to... it was foreign or shameful for a woman to "come back" to her husband if she ran off with other lovers. And when a divorce was given and she took on a new man, the law forbid the first husband to take her back (it would defile the land). But God said he would take her (Israel/Judah/Church back, in spite of her unfaithfulness. Though He wrote her a divorce... and sending her into the dispersion/Babylon He would take her back (also pictured in Hosea). So "the woman shall come back to the man..." in this new thing under this new covenant God of grace that He showing them and will fulfill in Christ. And this message was a message of hope... grace was freeing them from the bondage of the law. This word was truth that would free a woman from wandering in hopelessness because of her past... grace would cover her sins and bring her back home. (31:31-34 ; Hebrews 8). 1. Return to Me. (Trust and come to Me with yourself, your sin, your past and your future.) 2. Acknowledge your sin. (Confess... come and agree with Me that your sin is yours --- and it is just as I have described it to you. Come to Me and you will see your sin… #nestingwithjesus #jeremiah #jeremiah1 #jeremiah2 #jeremiah3 #getrightfedright #gospel #meansofGod #calling #galatians2and15 #pleasedthefather #light #2corinthians4 #paul #jeremiahtgeprophet #sanctified #formed #appointed #anointed #gad #gadabout #gaddingabout #conferences
