For this episode, our co-host Ji Yeon interviews one of his best friends, Berlyn, a 21-year-old student from Chiangmai majoring in Bachelor Program in International Service Management. Berlyn shares her experiences as an international student and describes her personality as an ENFJ extrovert. She also talks about how her friends perceive her positive energy. Berlyn discusses the challenges she faced at her previous university, which lacked sufficient support for international students, prompting her to transfer to a new school where she feels much more cared for. She describes her major, ISM, as practical and highlights the close-knit community among the students. Berlyn’s hobbies include watching movies and doing makeup, a skill she mostly learned by watching online influencers. She recommends dermatologist-approved skincare brands and shares her daily skincare and makeup routines tailored for dry skin.
In this episode of Finding Passion, part of the English Listening and Speaking 4 course by Professor Jenny, we meet Sunny, a student in the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures. Sunny describes herself as patient and a good listener, initially choosing her major partly due to her parents’ hopes and because she wasn’t confident in math and science. Though she originally wanted to study art, parental advice led her to pursue English. From childhood, Sunny loved drawing as a way to express her imagination, continuing to practice art despite her major. Recently, she also developed a passion for dancing, learning through online videos. Sunny’s strengths include patience, organization, and attention to detail—traits appreciated by family and friends. Furthermore, Sunny aspires to become an art therapist, combining her artistic talents and desire to help others.
In this episode of Finding Passion, part of the English Listening and Speaking 4 course by Professor Jenny, we meet Yee Wann, a Malaysian student with a unique and evolving path. He shares his experience working with his sister on a graduation project aimed at teaching people about the Malay language through UNITY. Initially joining the program because of his sister and uncertainty about his future, Yee Wann has since discovered new passions. While he once considered engineering, his true interest now lies in photography and videography. Having worked in advertisement production, he finds editing both rewarding and creatively satisfying. Outside of academics, Yee Wann is also an avid runner, having completed a half marathon. Looking ahead, he hopes to pursue a degree in photography and continue exploring his artistic side.

The theme of the podcast is Finding Passion. In this episode, Ivy, a Taiwanese student enrolled in the two-year Nursing Program, shares her personal journey. She begins by talking about how she improved her English, including her experiences at a cram school and during a student exchange program. Interestingly, her current passion is inspired by Bazi—a traditional Chinese astrological concept. Ivy also shares how Bazi has influenced her life choices and career direction.
This semester, Jenny has opened a compulsory course titled English Listening and Speaking 4 for the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures. As part of the course, every student is expected to create a podcast episode with her. The topic of the podcast is Finding Passion. In this episode, we meet Atai, a student from the Bachelor Program in Digital Media and Technology—just like our previous guest, Stambek. Interestingly, both of them come from the same country. During the conversation, Atai shares what inspired his dream of becoming a politician, as well as his motivations behind that career choice. He also talks about his experience working as a tour guide before coming to Taiwan.

In this special episode, Ji Yeon, the co-host, a sophomore majoring in Foreign Languages and Literature, opens up about his journey from Malaysia to Thailand and now to Taiwan. Although naturally introverted, he becomes more expressive when speaking English, which has been both his strength and passion since childhood. As a big fan of Taylor Swift, he enjoys listening to music and exploring lyrical expression. His friends and family often say he has a soothing, therapeutic voice. While he doesn’t see himself becoming a traditional teacher, Ji Yeon hopes to contribute in unique ways—possibly blending careers like therapy and songwriting. With his ISFJ personality, he values emotional connection and continues to pursue paths that align with his passion for language and expression.
