When I first became a born again Believer it was so simple back then. When the gospel of salvation was preached, my heart yearned within me. A spiritual thirst came in, and the simple invitation to "Come and drink of the living waters of life" was so inviting. So pure and full of comfort. From then a well of water of eternal life sprang up within me. That new birth from above always causes the believer to offer those in this "dry and thirsty land where no water is," to "Come and drink." A fountain is opened up within them that flows.
I remember taking so much upon myself back in those early days thinking that if someone rejected the living waters of the gospel I offered to them, it was my own failure. I did not realize that word to be so deeply true, "He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water." It had nothing to do with me at all and never could be. I had to grow up.
Actually it was because those people were not thirsty at all. Thirsty people drink. During Jesus life He always said "Come." From the second day of His showing He said, "Come and see." Later to cry out in the temple, "If any man thirst let him come and drink!" After His resurrection He told those seven disciples, "Come and dine. " And still in His final letter to the churches, "And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst Come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely." Revelation 22:17.
Jesus is saying to you today, "Come," as "there is a door open in heaven." He bids all to come. Get rid of the garments of intellectualism like blind Bartemaeus cloak. Cast them down and come to Christ pure and simple. It is a standing open invitation to enter into eternal life, that only the "redeemed of the Lord" obtain. Where sins are eternally forgiven and "joy and gladness" will be their crown. The time of the church age is coming to an end swiftly, now is the time to accept the invitation and "take of the water of life freely" and live forever.
“I think of the love of God as a great river, pouring through us even as the waters pour through our ravine at flood time. Nothing can keep this love from pouring through us, except of course our own blocking of the river." ~Amy Carmichael

In the quiet shadows of the early morning I arose for prayer and meditation. Things slow down when you get older in the Lord. The words come from a deeper source within. Words that come out of the heart where He dwells. After I prayed and was reading the Bible I came across a verse that spoke about our lives being only a shadow. I dwelt upon these words, because as I began to think of "shadows," I thought about how we are all walking "through the valley of the shadow of death." Which indicates this world, this earthly mortal life.
But that Shadow-Valley is not one we dwell in or under, but only go through. We do so under the shadow of the Almighty." We are under His constant care, protection and love. Many people live in shadows of self hate, shadows of rejection and abandonment and no worth. Shadows of fear and grief. Others dwell in dark shadows of consequences of sin. The kind that demolished their entire life and families. God wants all of these people to come out of those dark shadows to dwell under His Fatherly shadow. It is so close to Him it is the secret place of heavenly Paternal love.
No, God does not have a shadow, "there is no shadow of His turning." The expression "dwelling under the shadow of the Almighty," really means, a nearness so intensely close to Him. Where you are cleaving to Him just like a little child, as you "lean upon the everlasting arm." In the end of this life you will leave the Shadow-Valley of this world. He will take you into the other world of His Shadow-less Land on that glorious day. Where there are no valleys, but only the "Mountain of Holiness."
“When you are in the dark, listen, and God will give you a very precious message.” ― Oswald Chambers

On the day Queen Elizabeth passed away we learned that it was a 70 year historic reign. This last June 2nd the British nation held a 70 year Jubilee Celebration. She passed away during a Shmita Year which happens every 7 years following a Jubilee year. Her son that succeeded her is King Charles III. He ascended that throne at the age of 73. He was born November 14, 1948.
Interestingly Israel is the same age dating the same year May 14, 1948. We understand that months before Queen Elizabeth died, she had several meetings with her people. She laid out many strict instructions that must be obeyed after her decease. Irreversible edicts were drawn up. One of them was that King Charles III would only reign 7 years.
All of these numbers seemed Biblically significant, but I waited and thought on it. Mena and I got together today in frank discussion about the Biblical significant history of Great Britain. Their direct past, present and future role with the Jewish nation of Israel is far more than anyone really realizes it. The British nation is mentioned through out the entire Bible, even into the Millennial Reign of Jesus Christ. There is a lot of very important, timely historic and prophetic insights in this episode.
Psalms 72:10, "The kings of Tarshish and of the isles shall bring presents: the kings of Sheba and Seba shall offer gifts."
**Tarshish is the ancient name of the British Isles whose kings honor Jesus Christ in His earthly Kingdom.

There are many believers who once blazed in joyful fires in the Lord. They were glad when someone said, "Let us go into the house of the Lord." They "dwelt in the secret of the Most High, and abided in the shadow of the Almighty." But something happened. They slowly departed from the living God. There are many reasons why this happens.
Many times it is because they have been tempted into sin that led them down a path of greater sins. Others slowly ebbed away because they were hurt by a church leader, and "were wounded in the house of their friends." They now abide in the shadows of sad leper-like despair. They look from a distance to see the Kingdom of Jesus like "a city set upon a hill" from where they journeyed away from unto a land of shadows. They long to go back, but feel that they have gone too far. That there is no acceptance.
They know in the word that there is always forgiveness but count themselves a special case of disappointment to Jesus, and therefore cannot bring themselves to return to Him. Like Rachel who "refused to be comforted." King Manasseh was one of the most wicked kings of all. He was a murderer, and shed more blood than anyone before him. He was a wicked idolater and deeply involved in the occult. Until God warned him and he would not listen or repent. Then God had him carried away into horrible Assyrian captivity.
There he cried out to God in prayer who heard him, and forgave him, and returned him to his throne. The first thing Manasseh did was build a wall and fortified his cities. He built an altar and offered peace and thank offerings to God out of deep, humble gratitude. He died in peace, and that prayer in the low dungeon is now recorded for all eternity..."the prayer that he prayed."

Yesterday the Queen of England died after 70 years of service on the throne of her kingdom. I watched as the whole world became still and silent. As if time stood still. I saw all the world leaders immediately paying homage to her. I have never seen the anything like that before. This world has their kings and queens. They have their mighty lands and countries. But it is never theirs forever. They die and leave it to others to rule and reign. But they too die and others take their seat. And it must be so, as this is a mortal world.
This morning I prayed and asked the Lord to show me what He wanted me to say today or teach. In a moment of quietness as I moved about my house, I heard the words from Psalm 97:1: "The Lord reigns..." When I heard it within it came with a strong witness from the Lord that that is what He wanted me to say.
Jesus is the King of heaven and earth and always has been. He rules in the heavens, and also "in the kingdom of men," and "from generation to generation." Queen Elizabeth reigned for 70 years, but Christ's reign is "world without end." It is "from everlasting to everlasting." A day is coming when all kings and all nations will worship Him, and praise His name. They will mightily love the King of Love Jesus Christ. All nations will flow into Mt. Zion to see Him, to sing to Him, and adore Him from age to age, from eternity to eternities.
"There is a blessing prepared for the unoffended, and light no clouds of earth can smother, beyond the mist of the ravine. And in the end they shall walk up that pathway of light with their Beloved. "They shall walk with Me in light for they are worthy." ~Amy Carmichael

HOW TO GET HELP:
There is a growing phenomenon of poorly trained and improperly equipped spiritual leaders. There is also a growing number of heretical and fad teachings that lead to a performance-based relationship with God. When you combine these elements, the results are many people experiencing spiritual damage and confusion. The Spiritual Abuse Recovery Workbook can be used by an individual, or by a support group. There are over 100 questions designed to provoke deep thinking about the abuse experience. The Workbook is available on Amazon at this link - https://amzn.to/3s3VzqI.
If you find you are one of those people trying to make sense of an encounter with spiritual abuse, or are a pastor who has opportunity to minister to those affected by previous hurtful religious experiences, I want to hear from you. Feel free to call (706-575-6869) or email ([email protected]). We can help.
In this episode I discuss "spiritual suicide." There are many beautiful believers who have calls on their lives. Calls to do the will of God in many ways. But there is a person in their lives who fits the description of the "Spiritual Abuser." They see something in that called person's life they envy. They see the love they have for the Lord and the devotion to Him in everyway. The Spiritual Abuser may on one hand love them, but on the other hand hate that loving believer.
They zero in on them and work to "steal, kill and destroy" Christ in them. Many of these believers have been so beaten down. All of that once flaming fire of love burning in their hearts to run in the path of their call becomes extinguished. They begin to doubt their call they once started out with, and have been driven to the point of committing their own spiritual suicide. They live on dwelling as "a smoking flax" in the shadows.
Bottom line, all spiritual abuse is of the enemy to "steal, kill and to destroy" their victims. It is critical for everyone to identify what spiritual abuse is and seek help from God, and from trusted, strong, Biblical counseling. Jesus comes to give life and that more abundantly. To give all of His people the beautiful "liberty of the children of God."
“God nowhere tells us to give up things for the sake of giving them up. He tells us to give them up for the sake of the only thing worth having--viz., life with Himself. It is a question of loosening the bonds that hinder the life...” ― Oswald Chambers, My Utmost for His Highest: Selections for the Year

If you have never experienced spiritual abuse, than maybe you have seen it. In fact most people in Christendom have been exposed to it. I have personally experienced it and observed the destruction on innocent lives. Lives of people who are new in the Lord, or those who are very simple and trying to know the Lord are the victims.
Spiritual abusers can be church leaders, a husband or wife. They can be a new person you have become friends with. Spiritual abuse is a form of emotional and psychological abuse and can have a deeply damaging impact on those who experience it. Spiritual abuse occurs when a spiritual leader or a relationship abuses the power they have over you. Spiritual abusers take advantage of people rather than leading them as God intends. Spiritual abuse can cause you to question your faith. If it is in your home then it stands on the same ground as Domestic Violence.
The overriding connection among spiritual abusers is a desire for power and control. This may be overt or covert, depending on the abuser’s personality and goals. But it is always there in the background, and the abuser will use this desire for power and control to manipulate. The outcome of spiritual abuse is destruction to those they have power over. It is nothing short of an evil slavery.
Spiritual abusers are narcissistic broken people trying to exert damaging power over people they deem weak by using the word of God to crush them. Never doubt the Lord who bought you with the price of His own Blood. Never allow anyone to question the word that you have hid in your heart. Jesus loves you, died for you and lives for you in order that you will have peace in your life and hope with joyful assurance. Not a life of being spiritually beaten down and abused.
“The people who influence us most are not those who buttonhole us and talk to us, but those who live their lives like the stars in heaven and the lilies in the field, perfectly simply and unaffectedly. Those are the lives that mould” ― Oswald Chambers, My Utmost for His Highest

Recently I have been seeing catastrophic events happening around the world. Things that are so huge that when I go to pray about them, it feels as if my prayers are made of vapor. I have had this experience many times in my life. When I see enormous loss of human and animal life in the floods of Pakistan right now, I seem dumbfounded. I cannot speak because there seems to be no words to utter that remotely feel they can touch upon it. I feel like the captives of Israel who sat down at the edge of the river Chebar. "They hung their harps upon the willows in the midst thereof." They had no song left in themselves.
I searched my heart and waded through "tried and true" scriptures of promises I have historically stood on. I waded through memories of the worst times of my own life and remember verses I held onto for dear life. I remember Him seeing me through the impossible. And yet still I found myself barely able to utter words worthy of the devastating disasters.
I read John 3:33 this morning during devotions, "He that hath received his testimony hath set to his seal that God is true." I saw that there is a seal that we set as an eternal seal to the attestation that God's word is true. That setting this seal upon my heart means that I stand in full belief in every word of God, that He is true. And when I pray believing it is enough. I have "set to my own seal," and He will answer in His own time, way and style. God is faithful...
“But God is the God of the waves and the billows, and they are still His when they come over us; and again and again we have proved that the overwhelming thing does not overwhelm. Once more by His interposition deliverance came. We were cast down, but not destroyed.” ― Amy Carmichael

When we think of the word "legacy" we think about it in terms of what a person builds on this earth and attaches it with their name. But it is not the case in the believer's life. I was thinking about the legacies built up in people's lives like Abraham who in his old age "staggered not at the promises of God through unbelief, but was strong in the faith giving glory to God."
"Jacob worshipped the Lord leaning upon the top of his staff." There are many lives written about in the Bible of men and women from youth to old age who left behind holy, beautiful legacies. I was listening to Dr. Charles Stanley who was in a candid interview who spoke about leaving a legacy. I was deeply moved. I began to think of what I was leaving people with as I live on earth before many people.
What kind of legacy are you leaving people with? A believer's legacy is how they live consistently among people all their lives. They have yielded up their lives long ago to God in always being obedient. Even in the hardest trials. They never waver or swerve from it. They just keep going on in Christ. Even if it means loss of relationship and loneliness. The whole point of legacy is your whole life. Whatever you want to leave in a legacy you want it to be left in the hearts and minds of people.
Not with material things that will fade away. It is what you live for and what you stand for. You live in that strong God given conviction all the way to the end because you love Him. And what you leave people with should make them want to pick up and carry what you left behind in their hearts into others. You leave behind an eternal stream of the committed love of Jesus Christ. Your life should burn a holy, glorious memory in them that changes their lives forever. It says in Hebrews 11:5, "Enoch had this testimony, that he pleased God." This should be your testimony too.
"A Christian's life is not about having possessions, their riches are their identity in Christ." ~Oswald Chambers

How many of us have shrunken back from the thought of being a teacher of the word of Jesus Christ? We have been brought up in a sense at the feet of Gamaliel as a post modern class of Christians. Paul the Apostle was educated by him who was a renowned teacher of the law. Yet Paul, though he was a "Pharisee of Pharisees," after he was born again, had to relearn. He had to know how to love. Not by his own love, but from the love that he himself was loved of God.
Love is the essence of all workers in Christ. In several places Paul speaks about he and others being called to be "workers together with Christ." Yet, he admonishes them believers in Hebrews 5:12 that he expected them to be teachers by the time that he came back to see them. So what does this really mean? We are all called in some form or fashion to "be workers together with Christ." We also "have not received the grace of God in vain." How can that living water be stopped up if it is really His life in you?
If the heavens and earth cannot contain Him, how is He not coming forth from us if He truly does live in us? The love of God is the purest essence and power of teaching, working and being among all people. No one can be a true vessel of Jesus Christ unless it is done by and through the power of His love via the Holy Spirit.
Right where you are called, and what you are experiencing in life is the shaping, molding and character building He is doing in you. I love the words of Oswald Chambers below:
"Always give the best you have got every time; never think about who you are giving it to, let the other people take it or leave it as they choose. Pour out the best you have, and always be poor. Never reserve anything, never be diplomatic and careful about the treasure God gives. Always NOW is the secret of the Christian life." How beautiful! You will never go wrong in anything you do for the Lord in word, deed and in your daily manner of life. Your life as a worker is the way you say "Thank you" to God for His unspeakable gift."
