Lately I have been watching videos of the most beautiful missionaries of God. Listening to their stories of very meek and humble beginnings. Taking in powerful stories of God's provisions and miracles in their work. Oh yes as well as the heavy trials and attacks that went along with it. All the stories ending with great glory and beauty. I was in deep awe and it affected me.
Something happens to us when we age. We feel that most of our lives have now gone past and we wonder is there anything else left for us to do in the Lord. There seems to be a new call. One that waits for those who are aging. I was taken in by listening to Elizabeth Elliot speak about relinquishment. I heard it with older ears, with understanding about what it really means to relinquish everything for the sake of Jesus Christ in service. Not as I had thought I had done so many years ago. I was deeply moved by her message.
For three days my heart was churning, and I could not sleep. I feel and know that there is more, and this sense of knowing it was growing deeper and stronger within me. This morning after time in prayer I read these words in Hebrews 6:12, "that ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises." I knew God was showing me who to follow and why. God is speaking through them to us. Like Abel, "though being dead yet speaketh." I hope this message will be especially to those who know in their hearts they want more only because their heart is yearning upon them. That they will hear the calling of God within and respond.
"Be sure of your call. Do not feel the call of God is always as it were audible. It is more the quiet sense of peace that comes when one is in prayer before Him. It is an assurance, a conviction, then there is the leading afterwards." Amy Carmichael

In devotion this morning I was reading in Proverbs chapter 9 about the wise woman and the foolish woman. It was so rich and full of insight. I saw two different women who truly represented the saved and the ones who say they are saved and are not. Their actions and non-actions speak louder than words and reveals who have received something from God and those who have not. Who are His and who are not.
This chapter came alive this morning when I looked at these two women and their ways. Those that have been truly regenerated bear about the life of the Father and the Son by virtue of the Holy Spirit within them. This life of God within causes them to get up and live, to go out and prosper in the life God has given to them. They are always looking to pass on that eternal stream of living waters and bread of life to others, and never live to them selves.
They that are not alive in the Spirit are like the foolish woman who want all the trappings of Christian life, but have no heart for Christ. They offer nothing and live for themselves. When they do offer something it is not theirs, but something stolen to give away. They are not born again.
These two women seem also to represent the true body of Christ, and the other the false body that has no heart for Christ and offers nothing. One offers eternal life and the other eternal death. In this chapter there is such a stark difference between the two that it is breathtaking.
"True spirituality manifests itself in certain dominant desires. First is the desire to be holy rather than happy. A man may be considered spiritual when he wants to see the honor of God advanced through his life even if it means that he himself must suffer temporary dishonor or loss. The spiritual man wants to carry his cross.
Again, a Christian is spiritual when he sees everything from God’s viewpoint. Another desire of the spiritual man is to die right rather than to live wrong. The desire to see others advance at his expense. The spiritual man habitually makes eternity-judgments instead of time-judgments." ~A.W. Tozer

This morning I was reading about the wedding in Cana of Galilee where Jesus and His disciples were invited. When it became known to Jesus mother that the wedding party had no more wine, His mother came to Him saying, "they have no wine." "Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come. His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it."
What really struck me is that His mother did not go to the "governor of the banquet" which should have been the only one she should have gone to. After all It was his duty to take care of all the preparations, and during the feast, he would mingle among the guests and see to it that they lacked nothing, instructing servants to carry out all the necessary details.
Instead after she spoke to the Jesus, she spoke immediately to the servants saying, "Whatsoever He sayeth unto you do it." Then Jesus spoke to the servants telling them to fill the six waterpots with water, and to bear it. Then draw out the wine. Not to the bride or bridegroom or any other honorable guest, but to the ruler of the feast who tasted it first. He did not know where this best wine came from, "but the servants who drew the water knew." After which the ruler of the banquet called the bridegroom and asked him about it. Neither did he know where it came from.
I loved the picture of the behind the scenes action, because the waterpots were kept in the outer courts where the servants were. Everything that happened that day was through nameless obedient servants. They were privileged to be used by the real Bridegroom to do the impossible. When you lose your identity in Christ and work behind the scenes, you will be the one whom the Lord will call and use often. Remember, the governor of the feast did not know where this best wine came from, "but they that drew the water knew." Amen, live to be the water-drawer of His living waters, and pour out to the thirsty, the best wine now. You will always know the will of the Lord and walk in it as the finest of His servants all the days of your life.
"If you simply take the name of Christ upon you and call yourself His servant, yet do not obey Him, but follow your own whim, or your own hereditary prejudice, or the custom of some erroneous church, you are no servant of Christ. If you really are a servant of Christ, your first duty is to obey Him." ~Charles Spurgeon

This morning I felt such a strong direction to talk about prayer. Prayer is the most precious yet crucial thing given to us from God. There are many who pray with ease, while there are others who struggle though it all their lives. There are all kinds of prayers prayed for people, for illness, spiritual warfare. The list is literally endless.
Prayer is vast and can become confusing for people. They listen to how others pray and think that is how they must sound. There are some that purchase books on how to pray. There are some that feel that they are not qualified to pray, so they pray prayers written out for them and repeat them. They think that in doing so God will then hear them. There are many that feel that they sound dumb when they pray, and some that are convinced that God does not answer prayers because they do not say say the right things. Others that never feel to pray for themselves because they think they are not worth it.
That unbelief bleeds over unto other things in their lives they want prayer for but go away in a pre-defeated mal-acceptance. So they are ever enlisting the prayer help of everyone around them. They never go to God themselves. There comes a time when each one of us must break from the pack, and go to the Lord alone. Not always with a check off list or dry, dead prayers of unbelief. It is better not to pray at all. Like Blind Bartemaeus who threw off his beggars cloke and ran to Jesus. Their unbelief is something like that cloak. They choose to rather wear it instead of getting rid of it. God wants to hear from you, in your own voice. He wants you to trust Him to release the deepest issues of your heart.
Prayer is and must be that of the heart. YOUR heart. Do not be afraid to lift up your own self to the Lord in faithful assurance that He really does care, and really will answer you. Also, never let the devil discourage you to go and talk to your God. You have the power to rise up and go to Him any time you like. Really, nothing can stop you. Jesus word stands: "As many as cometh unto Him He will not cast out." That is the whole of the matter. Prayer is for answer and answer is for prayer. Jesus said to all, "Pray without ceasing."
“True prayers are born of present trials and present needs. Bread for today is bread enough. Bread given for today is the strongest sort of pledge that there will be bread tomorrow. Victory today is the assurance of victory tomorrow. Our prayers need to be focused upon the present. We must trust God today, and leave the morrow entirely with Him. The present is ours; the future belongs to God. Prayer is the task and duty of each recurring day -- daily prayer for daily needs.” ― E.M. Bounds

There is so much more to forgiveness than jus the act of asking for it. True forgiveness really is a sacrifice. Let me share a story with you that will best explain it. Many years ago I was deeply wounded by some people that I loved. I know that I had disappointed them too.
When I left the relationship I carried about in my heart a real heaviness. I felt that I could not be healed unless they asked for my forgiveness and that I can offer mine. I had reached out to meet one of them, and during that time, in a heartbroken way asked for their forgiveness I know I owed them. But the other person only said "thank you." I left that table and went on with my life. I left with a greater wound and it impacted my life for a very long time. I needed restoration, comfort and love. Even though there were times I had brief encounters with that person, there was never a mention of apology.
I was carried about with "overmuch sorrow." I felt plagued with deep entrenched feelings that God had to work in me to heal. Time has long progressed since then, and He has healed me and removed the sting. I did not come away empty handed after all. In fact I learned something about forgiveness, and today the Lord brought it all to my mind.
There is much more to asking for and giving forgiveness. The one giving the forgiveness is the one who has the power and key to restoration, comfort and love esteemed. But there are some who are innocent yet ask for forgiveness of them that hurt them in order to try and open the door of healing. Yet it is met with a cold one sided taking, and not asking for forgiveness still. The hurt one goes on hurting when the one who hurt them will not restore them. There is hardness within them and they keep the hurt one in pain. This is part of forgiveness least practiced, therefore the greater part of the body of Christ is living in woundedness and still bleeding in pain.
Reach out to someone you know the Lord is prompting you to say your are sorry to and ask them for forgiveness where you have hurt them. Comfort and restore them. This means more to Jesus Christ than ten thousand hours of religious works.
"I can forgive, but I cannot forget, is only another way of saying, I will not forgive. Forgiveness ought to be like a cancelled note - torn in two, and burned up, so that it never can be shown against one." ~Henry Ward Beecher

What used to be a beautiful truth about working for the Lord, has now turned into a heresy. There is a semi-new teaching that even repentance is works and considered evil. As well as many other things done in the body on behalf of Christ, are now considered to be condemned as evil works. This false teaching has it's roots in thorn bushes. It is a stumbling stone.
"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them." Ephesians 2:8-10
So we see that it is not by works that we are saved, it the gift of God. Yet we see that we are created in Christ Jesus unto good works. We see that there are two works. The first one was accomplished and finished by Jesus Christ on the Cross of His crucifixion. Nothing can be added to it. That was the "work that was finished from the foundation of the world." But now there is the new birth, the new creation that we live in, "being born again." The Holy Spirit living in us moves in us to do those good works that are pleasing to God our Father in Jesus name.
"I have been crucified with Christ, and I no longer live, but Christ liveth within me. The life I live in the body, I now live by the faith in the Son of God who loved me, and gave His life for me." Galatians 2:20.
To think that anything you or I do in His name becomes some sinister work that is condemned by God is to shut up the life of God within you. It is in a sense, imprisoning the Holy Spirit from having any outward expression in you, in this world. Let no one rob you of the beautiful outward life expression of your walk in Christ. The joyful expression of the new birth is freedom from the letter of some kind of twisted law that brings death. Look at the sons of Asaph who were the singers in the temple of the old testament. They were "over the business of the house of the Lord." How beautiful!
Live for the Lord, live in Him, walk in Him, sing in Him, pray to Him, love and believe in Him. This is life in the Spirit and "You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail."
“I have one desire now – to live a life of reckless abandon for the Lord, putting all my energy and strength into it.” ~Elizabeth Elliot

The longer you are running the harder it gets. Yet we try to hard to hold onto things in it, and yet they slip away from us if not now then eventually.
I remember reading Samuel Rutherford's book called "Letters." He wrote from Antworth September 14, 1634, to a woman who was grieving the loss of her husband after she had lost her child. She wrote to him in prison and this was his reply:
"And I dare say that the hammering of you from your youth is only to make you a carved stone in the high upper temple of the New Jerusalem. Your Lord never thought this world's vain painted glory a gift worthy of you; and therefore would not bestow it upon you, because He is to provide you with a better portion. Let the movables go, the inheritance is yours.
You are a child of the house, and joy is laid up for you; it is long in coming, but not the worse for that. I am now expecting to see, and that with joy and comfort, that which I hoped of you, since I knew you fully; even that you have laid such strength upon the Holy One of Israel that you defy troubles, and that your soul is a castle that may be beseiged but cannot be taken.
What have you to do here? The world never looked like a friend upon you; you owe it little love; it looked ever sour-like upon you: howbeit you should woo it, it will not match with you; and therefore never seek warm fire under cold ice. This is not a field where your happiness groweth; it is up above. What you could never get here you shall find there. And withal consider how, in all these trials (and truly there have been many), your Lord hath been loosing you at the root from perishing things, and hunting after you to grip your soul. Madam, for the Son of God's sake, let Him not miss His grip, but stay and abide in the love of God....and may He be to you the God of all consolations."
I think this says it all....Shalom to you in the enduring love of Jesus Christ.

Today I have Fred on from "ET Prepper" channel for an unscripted Koinonia Hour. Lately Fred and I have been discussing the reality of what is happening right now to this nation. There is a multi faceted collapse coming from every direction. Even the most conservative people waking up and are now realizing that it is real, and there is nothing anyone can do to stop it.
In this episode we primarily discuss the break down of the agriculture world wide, which is going to cause a devastating global food shortage. There are growing numbers of people starting to wake up to the fact that everything on the grocery shelves is from last years wheat harvest. And things shelves are already starting to become empty nation wide.
Fred has a channel called ET Prepper, where he has posted many videos about prepping, but he also is a man of God first and foremost. His prepping is a combination of the outward life and inward spirit filled life. He prepares outwardly in this world, and at the same time preparing his heart in Christ "in the inward man."
This discussion really comes down to it being a loving effort on our part to help people to wake up the the truth. There is not a lot of time left to start stocking up on food before there is scarcity, and it becomes cost prohibitive. This is a very fearful time for a lot of people. Both from those that are economically unable to stock up to those that have the resources to do so.
The final emphasis is to remember that there is our great God Jesus Christ that all can rely and count on. To trust Him in all of it, through all of it. He will not leave anyone flat who reaches out to Him. God is faithful, and will never turn anyone away. Not ever.
Finally Fred shares his heart regarding the importance of community at this time. We are all going to have things we know how to do to help others. Everyone has some sort of skill set that makes up for those that do not. We are all going to need one another practically and spiritually.
This is the time to really build up a strong circle of trustworthy friends. It is about to get very rough. We need to prepare the same way Joseph did before the seven years of famine. Because when this all comes down, we are all going to be grateful to the Lord that we woke up, listened and prepared. Being spiritually prepared is the real ultimate preparation.
"Cast thy cares upon the Lord, He shall sustain thee; He will never suffer the righteous to be moved." Psalm 55:22

When Jesus first came to the first four fishermen one morning, He stood on the seashore and said to them, "Follow Me." We read that they "left their nets" and followed Him. Some time later we read about Jesus standing on the seashore. Multitudes were pressing on Him to hear the word. He entered into one of the two boats, and sat down and preached from there. Afterwards, He told Peter to let down his net and he would catch fish. They all let down their nets and the catch was so great their nets broke, and their vessels were sinking under the weight of the magnitude of fishes.
At that moment, the power of the Holy Spirit was mightily present. Peter fell down at Jesus' knees and begged Jesus to depart from him saying, "for I am a sinful man!" We see Jesus revealing Himself to Peter as "Lord," and Peter seeing Himself as filthy sinful man. I get the feeling what Peter was seeing and experiencing was so powerful regarding his sinful state. I don't think anyone could begin to put it in words. We might even get a glimpse in a sense of what the Great White Throne Judgment will be like in this moment.
James and John were the other fishermen, whom after seeing what happened, I seem to think had experienced the same powerful presence of Jesus Christ too. How could they not? Look what it says, " For he [Peter] was astonished, and all that were with him, at the draught of the fishes which they had taken: And so was also James, and John, the sons of Zebedee, which were partners with Simon. And Jesus said unto Simon, Fear not; from henceforth thou shalt catch men. And when they had brought their ships to land, they forsook all, and followed him."
This was now the second time they followed Jesus, but not because He asked them to, but now they wanted to. Notice they did not just leave their nets, now they did so of their own volition "forsake all and follow Him." Later after Jesus death, burial and resurrection, Jesus was seen by seven of His disciples standing on the shore in the morning. They had fished all night and caught nothing.
But they heard Jesus tell them to do the same thing as last time, and obeying Him, they now caught a major catch and the nets did not break. When they all got to shore, Jesus asked Peter if he loved Him, and all three times Peter attested to the fact that he did. Jesus then told Peter how he would later die in his old age. Then afterwards He said for the third time, "Follow Me."
This is how I see our walk and following Christ in a threefold phase of maturity. Jesus knows how to teach you to follow Him. Following Him is never easy when it time goes on with Him. There are many challenges. But He always knows how to reveal Himself to those that keep on following Him and to mature them into great fruit bearing trees unto His Father and ours for His namesake. Those that do continue on will never be sorry. They will glory in Him forever.
“If Christ is not all to you He is nothing to you. He will never go into partnership as a part Saviour of men. If He be something He must be everything, and if He be not everything He is nothing to you.” “The Lord's mercy often rides to the door of our heart upon the black horse of affliction.” ~Charles Spurgeon

When the word precious is mentioned, it is thought to be of something of great value, or high price like precious jewels. Perhaps a precious friend or loved one comes to mind who is highly esteemed or cherished. Websters defines it in synonyms: costly, dear, expensive, extravagant, high, high-end, premium, priceless, ultraexpensive, valuable. When I see these words, it is Christ who is emblematic of these expressions. Whatever a person esteems precious, becomes the strong focus of protection and preservation above all else.
The words come to me from the 1 Peter 2:7, "Therefore, to you who believe, He is precious..." You see it is one thing to say that Jesus is precious to you, but if you do not believe His word, then that preciousness is void. When Christ becomes precious to you, then all that flows from Him become precious. What is precious then becomes guarded by your very life and heart because He lives in you.
What is in your heart that matters the most is what is most precious to you. But if there are things, and habits and ways that are of this world and not of the other world (heaven), then He is not precious to you. Your heart is the seat of Christ, by virtue of His Holy Spirit, and that is the seat of divine love. You can only love what is precious to you. That love you will have for Him then becomes most precious. The knowledge of His will becomes precious to you. All that is precious to Him becomes precious to you. Then you will go and pray to the One whom is precious to you, from a heart of precious love, and precious believing.
In the growing days of darkness, while the whole world is clamoring, fearing, and falling apart, you will live in His precious light like the Children of Israel in Goshen. Because you are precious to Him, your prayers prayed in Jesus name will become most precious to God. Finally, in the word it says, "If a man loves God the same is known of Him." Is that known of you? If Jesus is precious to you, His word will be your daily bread, the "lamp unto your feet and a light unto your path." He will care for you, preserve and sustain you because of His great and precious promises unto you who believe for His namesake. Your life will animate what and Who is precious to you to a dying world.
"Jesus is not a grain of gold, but a vast globe of it, a priceless mass of treasure, such as heaven and earth cannot excel." ~Charles Spurgeon
