Have you ever been determined about something? Something that you steadfastly, decisively set your mind on? If the answer is yes, then you can vouchsafe by saying there was no one and nothing that could stop you. No power on earth, or powers of darkness dislodged you from your determination. Because when you have determined something, you have already nailed it down and it is ironclad. Even if it takes your whole entire life to see it come to pass, you are immovable in it as long as it takes. It a sense, you already see it done.

Jesus set His face steadfastly to go to Jerusalem where He would finish the work His Father gave Him to do. The determination of Jesus Christ is one most overlooked feature of Himself in terms of us not applying it to our lives. Jesus determination was fixed, not subject to change, and enduring. Which I fully believe that His determination goes well beyond what most of think. The life of Jesus Christ in you by way of the Holy Spirit is His power in you that makes you grab onto what Christ's determinations are for earthly life, for character building, for spiritual maturity, and things to come. Christ was determined to go to the Cross, He is determined to return in His in the Second Coming. He is determined to overthrow Satan's kingdom, and determined to set up His Kingdom of Righteousness, and determined to have you there.

He is determined to receive you into the Household of faith. He is determined to set you free from the strongholds of Satan's kingdom. He is determined to love you, walk with you, bless, comfort and teach you. He is determined to lead you to your eternal home in Heaven.

Where is your face steadfastly set and looking towards? Whatever you set your face towards, you heart had to set itself first towards what you are looking at which becomes your direction. What is your determination? The question can only be answered honestly by you. There is a Heavenly Jerusalem where your face must steadfastly be looking and should be your determination.   There are many determinations you have through out your earthly life, but there is one that must become the chief of determinations and steadfastness. Which is to enter into what His heart is determined to do in you, and in this world, and in the world to come.

"Remember to turn your eyes heavenward, and your heart heavenward too. Look to Christ; do not fear. There is no stumbling when a man walks with his eyes looking up to Jesus. He who looked at the stars fell into the ditch; but he who looks at Christ walks safely." ~Charles Spurgeon

When we read about the life and times of Moses, the overt things are the ten plagues, the parting of the Red Sea and more. But there is something else that we must see, and that is 'the man' rather than the things he did by the mighty hand of God.

I believe the Lord led me on softly and slowly through the leaflets of the Bible lately, to see Moses real life. And in doing so, it became clear to me that his life and times were just like ours in many striking similarities as Believers. When it entered into Moses heart at forty years old to deliver his brethren, the children of Israel, he went out one day and murdered an Egyptian man. What God had caused to enter into his heart must have been fierce and powerful. We see how the untamed part of himself leaped ahead of God in a homicide.  Moses became a fugitive dwelling in a desert until he was very old. THEN was he called when he had no expectation of it.

In fact, I would submit that what happened forty years before he had put behind him, and tried to forget about it. But God did not forget about it. Because Moses was sent back by God to where he fled from, and he was afraid. He was unpolished so to speak, and asked God who it would be that He would send with him. God allowed his brother Aaron to go with him.  Further onward in the story, we see that Aaron sinned in making an idol, a golden calf for the people to worship. After that, Moses stood alone. He met with God to ask again whom it would be that He would send with him, that would take Aaron's place.

God answered, "My presence shall go with thee and I will give thee peace.' And added, "There is a place by Me and thou shalt stand upon a rock....and I will put you in the clift of the rock." You see, there will come a time that God will remove the "Aaron's" in your life, and He will take their place.  He will then invite you to stand in that place by God the Father upon the Rock Jesus Christ. Because you are born again and live in Him. He will be your companion.

The Christian needs only to look at the entire life and times of Moses, only to truly see their own lives the same way. Moses the adopted grandson of Pharaoh became not only a deliverer and judge, but the "King of Jeshurun" in the end. You are not only sons and daughters of the Most High God, but will one day soon be Kings and Priests unto God now and forever more.

"The seasons change and you change, but the Lord abides forever the same, and the streams of His love are as deep, as broad and as full as ever." Charles H. Spurgeon

No matter how much believers try to avoid hardship or a fight, it is unavoidable. Something eventually will come down the pike to call them them into the ring. It is just the way it is. Sometimes it will be a full scale assault from demonic invading forces. Other times it will be terrible things that happen that are just part of this life. And many times, that is when the enemy of our souls rides those terrible things like a carnival ride.  We do not really know what is in us until we are pushed into a corner, and we realize we have to fight or die. I know that is an extreme way to put it. But no one ever fights for something that has zero value. Our first response to an attack or some hard thing thrust at us feels like a sucker punch that leaves us staggering about.

I have noticed that during that initial strike we become instantly overwhelmed, and that is when we feel as if we cannot stand up to it. Not long after a moment occurs that I have experienced, and it is when I lock into that fight. I can feel the power of the Holy Spirit and His great weightiness enter within to fight for me. When you think about it, when has even a nation not fought to save it's own citizens and land? When has a mother not stood up and laid down her life for her baby? Even animals do the same.   Christ fought for you and me. He fought the greatest fight that is unmatchable. He did that in order to save you, and to fight for you through your life. To undergird you with power, and to arm you with Himself. Your life may be in what feels like a meat grinder right now.

You may feel that waves and billows are crashing upon your head and you cannot come up for air. While others are being pursued by evil human sources and spirits.  Jesus Christ sits in His throne in heaven as your Defender. He died and lives for you, and He will live with you and when you come to die, He will be the first one to meet you. Jesus stood at the right hand of God at the stoning of Stephen to honor him. Yet, I tend to think that Jesus also stood up to be the One to greet Stephen at his entrance into eternity. I believe Jesus stands for you now as He did for Stephen, and will also welcome you into heaven with joy. This life is not forever, and we "fight the good fight of faith" and we "war a good warfare."

Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward." For He saith, "I will never leave thee nor forsake thee."

"He will place you on the battlefield with courage and take you off with honor." William Gurnall

Jesus was not kidding when He said, "In this life you will have tribulation." It is just the way it is. It is the course of this life. Like Jacob said in his last address to Pharoah, "The days of the years of my pilgrimage are an hundred and thirty years: few and evil have the days of the years of my life been..." In fact, every one that we read about in the word had long lives that were considered "few and evil."

Consider Abraham. God at first called him, "The friend of God." Later on God says of him, "Abraham, My friend." And farther on Ezra says, "Art not thou our God, who didst drive out the inhabitants of this land before thy people Israel, and gavest it to the seed of Abraham thy friend for ever?" So we see that the first time the word friend is ever mentioned was regarding Abraham. And it looks like it was not a stagnant friendship, but a growing one. God saw that he had faith in Him regarding the unknown and what seemed impossible.

This carries through into the New Testament where Jesus says, "I no longer call you servants, I now call you friends." The very idea that we can be His friends is incredible. I received such a wonderful revelation of that the other morning. It was as if a great light burst through from within, and an wonderful peace and comfort rushed in. I knew also in a deeper sense that everything was taken care of, and felt a lightness in my soul. Our great Friend comforts us when we least expect it. He will comfort you too.

"A rule I have had for years is: to treat the Lord Jesus Christ as a personal friend. His is not a creed, a mere doctrine, but it is He Himself we have." ~D.L. Moody

Jesus said that John the Baptist was "a burning and a shining light." He added to that by saying that He had a greater witness than that of John, and that His works bore witness of Him that he was sent by the Father. It is clear that Jesus is "the Light of the world." There are what seems like literally hundreds of scriptures that speak about light that have to do with Jesus Christ. Jesus did not speak about Himself being a greater light, but One that was sent to finish the work given to Him.

Luke records John the Baptist being in prison, and sent two of his disciples to ask Jesus if he were the One to come, or should they (the Jews) look for another? Jesus answered, "Go your way, and tell John what things ye have seen and heard; how that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, to the poor the gospel is preached. And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me." Luke 7:22-23.

The burning and shining light seemed to have dimmed in prison, but the answer that Jesus gave him was all but it was enough. John accepted the unexplained. And I believe a light shone in his cell, and in that light he lived till his prison door opened, and he stepped across its threshold in the the Land of Light.  Look at Paul the Apostle. Paul's "hired house" was probably a room in a crowded lodging house. It is not likely that he could have afforded more. He was of course chained to a soldier; the four walls of his room made a prison. There must have been noise, crowding, loneliness, no privacy, not much outlook, little if any beauty and, above all, a terrific temptation to feel as tough he were not getting on with things. The golden secret of courage is found in the presence of our Lord.

Perhaps some of us are sorely tempted to think that just now there is not much that is "burning" about our lives. Some are ill, some have duties of very simple sort. Where does burning come in? Where did it come in when John the Baptist was shut up in prison? He could not do anything but just endure, and finally not be offended, and not doubt his Lord's love. But when Jesus spoke of him, He said, He was a burning and shining light.  He still is ever a burning and shining light, and so is everyone whose hearts are burning within them that love Jesus Christ. "Did not our hearts burn within us as He opened unto us the scriptures?"

"Of all the things in the world that can set the heart burning, there is nothing like the presence of Jesus." Charles Spurgeon

It is easy to become overwhelmed during heavy trials and onslaughts of this world, and the enemy. Even the heartiest of Believers fall down under severe blows. "Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall." But that does not change the fact that God is still God, and will never cease to be God in all-power. The children of Israel experienced something that no other people on earth did, nor since. That dark night, all looked to be lost and death imminent, God told Moses to stretch forth the staff in his hand over the Red Sea. God caused "the depths to congeal." "He made a way for the ransom to cross over." They "went through the midst of the sea." Paul tells us that God marched with them through it.

That same God who went with the children of Israel through the midst of it, is the selfsame God that will do the same in your life. If He did it for them, He will do it for you, me and all who cry out to Him. He does not only for our sakes only. Remember, He said He did it to make Himself known to His children's enemies. He said, "I will get Me honor upon Pharaoh."   You see it is a guarantee that we are going to have severe onslaughts from this world and the enemy. When we read about these redemption miracles, it is not just a story we tell, and turn into cartoons for our children to watch. But for the very express purpose to bear witness to us that He will deliver us. God made that so clear to me this morning, and in the eyes of my spirit, I saw the same Red Sea walls on either side of me, and Jesus Christ in the midst with me.

He is in the midst of you, and will forever be in the midst of His people now, and for all eternity. He got His people over to the other side, and He WILL do the exact same for you, "that the name of Jesus Christ will be glorified" in the midst of you "world without end."

It is impossible to pass this way through the earth as a Believer and not feel pain, heartache, loss and oppression. It's just the way it is. Jesus never said it would be easy. We have to go along the trodden path He made for us. We go the way of the Lord. I have been reading lately about the Hebrew slaves who were under heavy oppression by the Egyptians for four hundred long years. It says that the cries of the oppression from the people reached the ears of God in heaven, and He came down to see about it. No, they did not cry to God, they only cried under heavy burdens without hope. They had forgotten to go to God personally and collectively. However, God in His tender mercy still heard every single cry and came down. He delivered them with a great deliverance that no other people on earth can compare.

I thought of the Prodigal Son this morning as I sat in the dark, early morning in prayer. The story just entered into my mind, and a deeper sense of that story came in like a door opening and letting light in. I heard in my heart, in a deeper than usual place, "The Prodigal Son represents a fallen believer that comes to his senses and returns home to His Father. But there is something else to consider. There are many people that are not sinning, yet in a sense prodigal in the respect that though they were born in His House, have left off to live without Him, having received their initial salvation.  They are not sinning but in pain. They have been under heavy oppression for a very long time and are conditioned by it. God hears their cries of pain and oppression. They have stopped long ago going to God about it. They in a understandable sense, gave up. So in a sense, they are prodigal in that they join themselves to the world to look for peace. They apply methods to get peace, they go to others to have peace. But they spend all they have "spiritually," and become famished.

The prodigal knew it was time for him to go home to His Father, and rehearsed what he would say unto Him. But before he even saw his Father, his Father saw him, and still, before he could get one word out that he rehearsed, His Father was kissing his face, and hugging him. Today, though you are not sinning, but in pain, injured mortally, and famished spiritually. Arise, and go to the Lord. No need to rehearse. He knows all about it. Return today, and let your heavenly Father kiss you, and wrap His arms around you, and give you rest forever. The kind of peace you have been looking for on earth is not available. You must look upwards to your Father in heaven.

Jesus said, "My peace I give you, My peace I leave with you, not as this world gives, but as I give. Let not your heart be troubled neither let it be afraid." He sits on His throne in the mount of God in heaven, and you must climb the hill, you must become a mountaineer, and there you will "see Him who is invisible," and you will have rest for your soul. But you must remain there.

When it comes to prayer, many people find themselves unable to do so. They want to pray, but there are so many things that stop them in the way. Things like how they sound, or what they say is not going to get God's attention. When they pray, they basically unpray their prayers with trying to convince God why they would understand why He would not answer them. Others stand outside of it asking others to go in and pray for them because they feel they do not know how.

There are endless how-to books that work against the sweet simplicity of prayer.  Along with theologians who intellectually turn it into something that creates great distance between God and the people trying to pray. I think of King David in his bedchamber at night, in the dark, speaking to God with nothing in hand. I imagine Paul in chains looking out through a tiny prison window with bars, speaking to Jesus about things in His heart, having nothing in hand.  I see Mary Magdalene arising and going to the tomb while it was yet dark. She went with nothing in hand, and in her going, she meets the risen Lord in the way. Even Jesus when He went alone in prayer, carried nothing in hand. For "He arose a great while before day, and went out into a solitary place and there prayed." He had nothing in hand.

God wants us to come to Him when we are weary, lonely, scared, and many other reasons of desperation. But there is a reality in prayer overlooked. That prayer is not just a thing only, but a place. Jesus is our refuge and strength. He is our Fortress, our High Tower, and Deliverer. He is our Hiding Place, a Covert from the storm. It is not always about terror and fear. He wants us to dwell with Him in under the shadow of His wings, under His hand and nothing in ours. To abide there in peaceful rest while the world marches around us. "The strength of the hills is His also."

"So wait before the Lord; Wait in the stillness. And in that stillness, assurance will come to you. You will know that you are heard; you will know that your Lord ponders the voice of your humble desires; you will hear quiet words spoken to you yourself, perhaps to your grateful surprise and refreshment." -Amy Carmichael

There seems to be a feeling of time closing in on us. The true believers are well aware of what is happening around them. While this world is trying to hang on to time, we know that we are running out of it. To the unbeliever and lukewarm, "self identifying" Christians, they are doing everything they can to hang on to a putrifying world. Millions have already sold themselves out to a bio-method of survival. There are others in the millions that refuse the bio-method knowing it is a concoction meant to destroy. This is causing a world-wide stand off. I want to focus on the true believers. As all of us see a tidal wave barreling towards us, we are taking new spiritual inventory.  It is not business as usual with heaven.

Three days ago I thought about one of the things Jesus said to Nathanael. "Jesus answered and said unto him, Because I said unto thee, I saw thee under the fig tree, believest thou? thou shalt see greater things than these. And he saith unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Hereafter ye shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man."

Jacob also saw a ladder set upon earth reaching to heaven. The pre-incarnate Christ standing at the top of it. Angels of God ascending and descending up on it. It is observable, that some of the Jewish writers understand the ascent, and descent of the angels, in Genesis 28:12, to be, not upon the ladder, but upon Jacob; which makes the phrase there still more agreeable to this; and so they render in Genesis 28:13, not "above it", but "above him." What does that mean for us? That the ladder is a visual of our communication with heaven is wide open. The activity of the angels shows how much activity there is upon our lives. How much God is with us, answering our prayers, his angels protecting us. Jesus stood on the top of that ladder upon Jacob. That same ladder stood upon Jesus while on earth, and now stands above and upon us.

Those same heavens being thrown open have remained open ever since.  The greater things Jesus told Nathanael he would see, is now the "greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world." And "greater things will we do because He has gone to the Father in heaven." As evil and darkness become greater, so will the light, power, and glory of Christ become greater and greater. By and by, in a sense, says Jesus here, "ye shall see this communication between heaven and earth thrown wide open, and the Son of man the real Ladder of this communication." Christ is unmatched in His saints now and forever.

There is no other way to say it, except to say it plainly. This is the end of America. Jesus spoke one day to those accusing Him saying, "Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand." In another place He says, "For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places."   These words could not be truer than now.

We are seeing this kingdom of America rise against itself. And yes the birth pangs are here, and the Kingdom of Heaven is about to be birthed. The Lord made it clear before that "every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation." This nation is currently trending towards that end.   Today Jamie Waldon masterfully gives a strong word to the body of Christ about the sure word of God. That no matter what everything looks like or what happens, it is in knowing God that will take care of everything concerning our lives. Not any acrobats and ingrained mechanics of religious structures. Those things never make mighty men and women of faith.

What is coming will demand knowing God personally by an intimate, loving faith. He speaks about the strength and confidence in Christ, through Christ's "power of an endless life." A great testing and separating the wheat from the tares is happening. Jamie makes it clear through the word that Jesus never said it would be easy, but that He would see us through it.   This is such a potent message of putting the greatest of our faith, and steadfast, devoted love in the God of our salvation. He beautifully encourages the body of Christ to have their hearts and minds firmly made up to trust the Lord Jesus Christ completely. To truly know that it is Jesus that WILL do everything for us. That we can rest in His love in the worst of what is coming. And finally, to enter into the glory of the King of Saints, where we will sing, "Great and marvelous are they works Lord God almighty" forever and ever, "world without end."
