Joe  & Joe Weather Show Monday November 2, 2020 Major Hurricane Eta 130 mph winds strengthened rapidly today and is now a major hurricane Category 4. Landfall will occur on Tuesday near the Nicaragua Honduras border with catastrophic rains for Central America. With all the action there the weather in the Northeast and Northern Mid Atlantic states is about a storm in Eastern Canada and a very busy wind all day today and it continues into Tuesday morning. Warmer temperatures and less wind Tuesday and it will be dry and warmer Wednesday through early next week. No major or even minor storms are on the horizon.

In the Northeast and Middle Atlantic states a cold front is moving east with showers and some heavy downpours ahead of it and strong winds behind it that will last thorugh early Tuesday. Weather in 5 Tropical Storm Eta a record tying 28th named storm is moving west in the Central Caribbean and is forecast to strengthen to a hurricane on Monday. Hurricane Watches are up for Nicaragua and Honduras. A strong cold front is moving east with showers for the Northeast and Mid Atlantic followed by strong winds tonight and especially for the daytime Monday. The week ahead sees calmer warmer weather arriving mid and late week.

Weather in 5 on a cold Halloween in the Northeast and Mid Atlantic states. It is a quiet weather day across much of the US. A strong system moving across Southern Canada will bring some showers to the Eastern US on Sunday and a windy cold start to the new week.  A new tropical depression or tropical storm is likely to develop in the Caribbean over the weekend or early next week.

Weather in 5 Our back to back storm systems are moving away and cold air in their wake will creare a widespread freeze tonight in the Northeast & Northern Mid Atlantic States. Snow today in New England has ended. Saturday will be a sunny cold day. A strong cold front will produce some late showers Sunday followed by cold and windy conditions Sunday night into Tuesday. Next week will be dry and it will turn warmer for the middle and late week timeframe as the weather pattern across the US relaxes.

Cold air will be drawn southward and rain will change to snow across Upstate NY and Central and Southern New England late tonight into Friday afternoon. Weather in 5 Tropical Storm Zeta is racing rapidly northeast through the Central Appalachians with heavy rains from the Ohio Valley to the Mid Atlantic and Northeast. Zeta will move off the Delaware coast tonight and head out to sea. Gusty winds will develop along the coast. A second storm forms late tonight along the Delaware coast and brings more rain  for the Mid Atlantic and some wet snow in the interior Northeast. Cold air will cause a widespread freeze Saturday morning into the Mid Atlantic states. The weekend looks good. Another shot of cold air for early next week before we warm up. Mostly dry weather beginning Saturday and lasting through next week.

Joe  & Joe Weather Show Wednesday October 28, 2020 Hurricane Zeta strengthen to almost a category 3 hurricane with 110 mph winds at landfall in Southeast Louisiana this evening. Zeta will become post tropica but maintain identity as it rapidly heads to the Central Appalachians and then off the Delaware coast Thursday evening. Heavy rains will spread northeastward. Flash Flood Watches are up from Alabama to New Jersey. A second low develops early Friday and rain changes to wet snow over parts of New York and New England. We have the weekend outlook and the long range.

Weather in 5 Hurricane Zeta has strengthened overnight and this morning as it heads for a landfall in Southeast Louisiana coast late today. Afterwards it accelerates northeast and spreads heavy rains to the Ohio & Tennessee Valley to the Mid Atlantic north into Southern New England. 2 to 4 inch rainfalls will be common. Wet snow will develop on the northern flank of the precipitation shield. Cold air takes over for Friday and the start of the weekend.
