Gordy, now ill with John’s sickness from last week, begrudgingly leads us through the National Day Calendar to start out the show before handing things off to Sam for Today in History. In Idiocracy today, we cover the Autopen controversy – and get to the bottom of whether or not Biden (and Trump!) actually signed the pardons they claimed they did. We also take a look at the Trump Golf Tracker, and hear about how the president won his own golf tournament (lol). Closing out, the guys talk coffee, and learn about “coffee badging,” the new work trend of going to the office for coffee, then heading home to work there the rest of the day.

John and Gordy drain their brains in hour two, with a caller who suggests that MAGA and fact-deniers are doing just that, and rubbing off on the rest of us. We shift to talking about Social Security, the agency which is now calling (living) people dead to cut their benefits (!). We check in with Brittney Merlot, our WMDX meteorologist for a look at the weather, and later, we chat with Paul Soglin, former Madison Mayor, getting his hottest political takes. He touches on deregulation over the years of cable TV in Madison, and how it destroyed public access media, as well as the larger general trend of pre-Trump deregulation in the early 2000s. We also shift gears to talk about the state of politics, as major federal departments are being shut down. Paul gives his opinion on how he thinks the chips will fall.

Guests: Paul SoglinJohn and Gordy get sloppy to start things out today, talking Sloppy Joe Day and all the other fake holidays on the National Day Calendar. We check in with Sam for Today in History, and dive into politics, discussing the wild stories coming out of the White House “writer’s room.” Continuing after the bottom of the hour, we dive head first into Idiocracy. The guys talk about the latest instance of the Trump administration disobeying court orders, and also talk Ukraine. As Marjorie Taylor Greene is working to revise history, the leading scholar of Ukraine in the US schools her on Nazism, Russia, and the ongoing war of aggression by the country. Wrapping up the first hour, we welcome in Lisa Bernard from the Dane County Humane Society for her biweekly appearance, getting the scoop on three pets currently up for adoption.

Guests: Lisa BernardIn hour two, college dropouts John and Gordy go back to the university, discussing Trump’s ultimatum for Columbia University, demanding federal oversight of what the institution teaches. In a break from the news, we check in with our WMDX meteorologist Brittney Merlot, then jump right back in listening to a new anti-Trump ad from the Lincoln Project. Later, we’re joined by Hanna Shea or HS Pristine Clean, supposedly to talk about her business – but instead to receive a marriage proposal! After shuffling the lovebirds out of the studio, we close out today’s show with a story about consumer complaints about overcomplicated cars.

Guests: Arthur Freda, Hannah SheaBecause apparently St. Patty’s day preempts every other (real or fake) holiday, the guys don’t have a ton to cover on the National Day Calendar or in the History Books, but luckily Pam Jahnke from the Midwest Farm Report is here to get us in gear with today’s show. After chatting with her about the likely ending of a farm-to-school lunch program, we dive into Idiocracy, covering the dumb political news of the day. We talk Cyber Trucks and regular trucks, the latter going up significantly in price with the recent tariffs. After chatting with a caller about both wanting to annex Greenland, and take Denmark’s eggs, we close out the first hour recapping Pi Day on Friday, and John’s burnout from the news.

Guests: Pam JahnkeThis week was a fun one with John and Gordy (amidst the insanity!). On this week’s best-of, we hear their segment from Friday detailing Elon Musk’s car show at the White House, before moving to an Elvis-centric episode of Today in History from Thursday. Later, we hear the bulk of the guys’ conversation with Mike McCabe this week on symbolism, and passionate advocacy for positive political change, as well as our monthly chat with Judy Davidoff, publisher of Isthmus, chatting about what’s in the latest issue.

Guests: Judy Davidoff, Mike McCabeIn today’s Big Story, as promised, we talk Tesla, and reports from different perspectives on the “car show” held on the White House lawn showcasing Elon’s autos. Taking a break from the insanity, we check out the weather, insane in its own way this weekend, with our WMDX meteorologist Brittney Merlot, and later, welcome in Rökker for his weekly appearance! He’s here with a preview of Max Ink Radio tomorrow night, as well as other local music shows you need to be aware of.

Guests: RökkerIts Friday! The guys kick off making fun of how the White House lawn was turned into a Tesla sales lot earlier this week. After checking out the National Day Calendar, we chat with Pam Jahnke from the Midwest Farm Report about what’s going on in her world, including the renewed Rain Gauge Rally, a push for citizen scientists to report rainfall. Later, we dive into yet another edition of Idiocracy, discussing organized labor, with some unorthodox anti-labor mailings John received. Speaking of breaking things and dismantling rights, we check in with DOGE’s latest activities, covering the firing of veterans who work for the federal government. Wrapping up the first hour, we talk Wisconsin lawmakers Derrick Van Orden and Tom Tiffany, thoroughly out of touch with how the government actually works.

Guests: Pam JahnkeIn hour two, the guys dive back into yesterday’s topic of DOGE’s efforts to privatize Social Security. We listen to a long clip of Representative John Larson, giving an impassioned speech calling on his fellow representatives to make congress show some spine against the overreach of the executive branch. We take a look away from our computer screens and peek outside, checking on the weather with our WMDX meteorologist Brittney Merlot, and later, walk through some poll numbers. They show, on all the major issues, that a supermajority of American citizens don’t support the policies and efforts of the Trump-Musk administration. Wrapping up today’s show, the guys welcome on Judy Davidoff, publisher of Isthmus, to chat about some of the big stories in this month’s issue.

This beautiful Thursday, we kick off chatting about the National Day Calendar, also checking in with Sam as he looks at the (dusty!) history book, talking up and down about Elvis. Later, we’d usually be talking with Dr. Tim Slekar of BustED Pencils for our weekly education talk, but he’s away today. We dive into the topic on our own, bashing school vouchers and efforts to pay for private school with taxpayer dollars. We transition to chatting about comments by White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, lying once again about how tariffs work, and about how Canada would benefit from becoming the 51st state (lol).
