  • Imagine the Possibilities

In hour two, the guys get a surprise appearance by our WMDX newsperson Savanna Tomei-Olson, giving us a rundown of the big headlines today. John then dives into the Big Story: cuts Musk plans for Social Security (!), along with comments from Republican lawmakers agreeing with him. Getting the inside on the outside, we check in with Brittney Merlot for a look at the weather, and later, we welcome in Mike McCabe for his usual Wednesday appearance. Sporting a white cap (the new color of protest and unity), he chats about symbolism – his hat, but also another example: the spinning wheel, and the role it played in India’s independence movement. Jumping off from this, the trio dive into the idea that, like Gandhi, we should not focus on what we’re against, but rather to start something new. Gandhi used the spinning wheel to promote Indian manufacturing and independence, and we need to promote the ideas we’ve wanted for years: universal healthcare, funded public schools, a living wage, and more. In addition to having a plan for good policy, the guys also nail home the need to believe in an idea, and wholeheartedly, emotionally support that belief – in order to make it happen.

  • Make America Buy Chickens Again

As we continue tracking the progression of John’s cold, poking fun along the way, we get into the National Day Calendar to start out the show, talking Girl Scout cookies and Coke, along with a check of the History Book with Sam. In Idiocracy for today, the guys chat about tonight’s SCOWI debate between Susan Crawford and Brad Schimel, and also get into tariff talk – what people are resorting to doing now that prices are rising. Returning to the topic of musicians protesting from the last half hour, we take a trip back to 2003, listening to a section of Pink’s “Dear Mr. President.” We wrap the first hour with a shout out to the land down under, as we have a listener today in Australia!

  • MAMA Cares

Part two of our show today begins with a conversation about Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick’s backwards thoughts on tariffs and economic downturn. After chatting with a caller about cuts to the National Parks Service, the discussion turns to “entitlements” like Medicare and Social Security, that Musk wants to cut, but, as we all know, provide huge amounts of help to the people of the US. We check in with our WMDX Meteorologist Brittney Merlot for some chatter about the weather, and welcome to the show Robert J, founder of MAMA Cares with the Madison Area Music Association, to talk about the work the organization does for local musicians facing medical debt. They’ve got their 10th anniversary coming up on March 30th, and are celebrating with a benefit concert at the High Noon Saloon. Wrapping up the show, we hear all about yesterday’s Stand up for Science protest, with lots of great protest signs, and also some off-the-rails clips of Stephen Miller’s rants.

  • John & Gordy In Wonderland

After a wild weekend at the annual Springfield Corners Testicle Festival, John and Gordy are a bit low key this morning. Nevertheless, we trek through the National Day Calendar and an abridged version of Today in History with Sam, before checking in with Pam Jahnke of the Midwest Farm Report, who also made an appearance at the Testicle Festival. Later, we get into today’s edition of Idiocracy, covering stories about presidential speech interruptions, with a comparison of Trump and Biden. We also do a deep dive on how the current administration is wronging veterans in almost every way, and close out the hour joking about the promised (but never to come) $5,000 DOGE dividend.

  • We've Got the Biggest Balls of Them All

Its Friday! John and Gordy kick off with National Day Calendar as usual, and chat with Pam Jahnke from the Midwest Farm Report about the winners at the US cheese exposition in Green Bay, and also this weekend’s Testicle Festival in Springfield Corners! After the break, we get into today’s dose of Idiocracy, covering DOGE’s continued efforts to dismantle (with a chainsaw) the federal government, along with protests to look out for.

  • Filthy Stinkin' Rich

In hour two, the guys welcome on our WMDX newsperson Savanna Tomei-Olson for her Big Story of the day, all about the federal offices DOGE plans to close in Dane County, a whopping 16 in number. In Newsman Johnny’s corner, his Big Story revolves around (a few) Republicans standing up to Trump and Musk, demanding that congress be involved with DOGE’s activities. We check in with our WMDX meteorologist Brittney Merlot for a check of the weather, and chat about problems with Bank’s rushed implementation of Zelle. Since the CFPB has been kneecapped, the fraud from these rushed implementations is being left largely unaddressed. Later, after some chatter about John’s history as a handyman, the discussion turns to the national debt – how we could pay it down, and even lift the entire country out of poverty – if we tax the rich. Yet, the current administration continues gunning for another trillion-dollar tax cut. Wrapping up today’s show, the boss, Kathryn, joins us in the studio for some loving beratement of our beloved morning team.
