With the firehose of news, John had to be put into a straightjacket and forcefed the National Day Calendar to calm down. Before we could do so, the guys chatted about the State of the State address last night, as well as some more executive orders passed by Trump. The guys check in with Sam for Today in History, and later, we welcome on Dr. Tim Slekar of BustED Pencils as we do every Thursday. This time around, we ask him all about AI in the classroom - the implications of its existence, and ethical uses of it.

Guest: Dr. Tim SlekarIn hour two, we get to the Big Story of the day: another Trump pardon, this time of the kingpin of Silk Road, a former internet drug trafficking hub. We chat with Brittney Merlot for a look at the weather, and hear about how the South is getting the weather we should be (8" of snow in Florida!), and later welcome on Mike McCabe, this time to talk about AI, and the wild problems that the technology both causes and still has, when applied to writing and creativity.

Today's show starts with a spooky twist: Sam, John and Gordy's producer, is fixing up an old radio, and it makes John recall a ghost hunting TV show. As its not October, we return to the National Day Calendar for a break from the supernatural. We take a look at what happened on This Day in History, and later talk Idiocracy. In today's edition we talk Trump's new sword, words from a former member of the Village People, denouncing the performance by a different Village People at the inauguration, and the creation of the "External revenue service." We also hear about social media sites beginning to censor Democratic/progressive tags (!) and close out by touching on AI, and CEOs of AI companies kissing the ring.

Hour two kicks off with the Big Story: the tax plan proposed by Trump and the Republicans that would not in fact cut middle class taxes as promised. Instead, their plan now would have people paying more to allow tax cuts for corporations and top earners. Though we know its still cold out, we check in with Brittney Merlot for our daily look at the forecast, and later welcome on Pat McBride, the author, professor of cardiology, and Luckiest Boy in the World, who as a teenager worked for the Brewers, Bucks, and Packers all at the same time!

Guest: Pat McBrideJohn and Gordy have a jam-packed show ahead! They kick off recapping some of the executive orders passed by Trump on his first day in office, including pardoning J6 rioters, pulling out of the WHO and Paris Climate Agreement, and more. To distract themselves, they check out the National Day Calendar, as they always do. Later, we get a heaping pile of Idiocracy, as the guys dig more into one of his "dictator on day one" actions: ending birthright citizenship. Wrapping up the first hour, we take a break from politics and welcome on Lisa Bernard from the Dane County Humane Society for another edition of the Dating Game!

Guest: Lisa BernardIn hour two, John and Gordy get into the Big Story they previewed in the last hour, TikTok, and the uproar that the ban, and resurrection by Trump has caused. We chat with Brittney Merlot about the extremely cold weather, then take a look at a Fox News exclusive: a list of his day-one executive orders. Later, we chat with former Madison Mayor Paul Soglin, talking about the inauguration, as well as how State Street has changed over the decades, and the challenges it faces with empty stores and rising rents. As we close out the show with leftovers, SNL helps us out with an abridged version of the Weekend Update, the guys clown on the new (and tanked) TrumpCoin, and hear about Canada's preparations for Trump's incoming tariffs.

Guest: Paul SoglinJohn and Gordy kick off the week reminiscing about when they lost their marbles. We're all going to lose our marbles today, as #47 is sworn into office. To distract ourselves, we take a look at the National Day Calendar, and also chat with Pam Jahnke, the Fabulous Farm Babe, to hear how the cold weather is affecting farmers. Later, in today's dose of Idiocracy, the guys chat about how the inauguration was moved indoors, hear about proto-DEI in 80s, from In Living Color, and then dive into TikTok, which was killed, then recussitated over the weekend.

Guest: Pam JahnkeJohn and Gordy hit a home run at the end of this week - as they remembered Bob Uecker, who passed on Thursday. In addition to that, they talked with James Kelley, who was reporting from Eau Claire on the closure of Leinenkugel's brewery Friday. Though every day we check in with our Civic Media meteorologist, Brittney Merlot, we also got her take this week on the news that Allen Media was cutting their entire weather staff, across all stations. Wrapping up this week's best of, we also hear from John and Gordy's conversation with Dr. Tim Slekar, about the theory of multiple intelligences - just how smart can two radio hosts be?

Guests: James Kelly, Dr. Tim SlekarIn hour two, we talk briefly with a caller about last hour's topic of international takeovers, and she offers up another piece of media telling a story about such. The guys chat with James Kelly, our news correspondent up in Chippewa Falls, getting the scoop on Leinenkugel's brewery closing later today. Moving over to Wausau, we chat with Brittney Merlot, or Civic Media meteorologist, both about the weather, but also about the news that Allen Media is cutting its entire weather staff across all its stations, in Eau Claire, Wausau, and here in Madison. After talking more about Trump's desire to "make imperialism great again," we welcome in Jimmy K, in for Rökker, to preview what's on tap for Max Ink Radio and local music this weekend.

Guest: Jimmy KJohn and Gordy kick off the show by remembering two legends who passed away: Bob Uecker, Milwaukee Brewer and broadcasting legend, and also David Lynch, creator of the groundbreaking show Twin Peaks. Until we dive deeper into their lives, the guys chat about the National Day Calendar, and Today in History. John enlightens us to Zuckerberg's new take on masculinity, in light of learning taekwondo. Later, we learn a bit more about Uecker, with a series of clips illustrating his life. Wrapping up the hour, we head North to Canada - as a Premier from Alberta is circumventing the government to negotiate with Trump directly in Mar-a-Lago, about his plan to tank their economy with tariffs.
