John W. Jones Jr. is another legend in the rodeo world. He qualified for the NFR in the steer wrestling 10 times, won the world title 3 times (1984,1988,1989), along with one average title in 1988, and to boot qualified for the NFR in the calf roping twice. Not know for being the biggest guy on the day sheet, John W. was a trendsetter in mastering the technique of steer wrestling and not just relying on size and strength. In this episode we talk about how he developed his style, what rodeoing was like in the 80’s and how he continues to shape the future of steer wrestling by menotoring the next generation.
