Johnnysbookreviews

In this episode, I discuss why New Year's resolutions don't work and what to do instead. The books mentioned in this episode are Atomic Habits by James Clear and Tiny Habits by B.J. Fogg.

It has been a crazy year. A lot of ups and downs. In this episode, I discuss 32 things I learned this year. Honestly, I wish I knew some of these earlier in my life, but I do now as I transition into 2023. The one I want to focus more on in 2023 is consistency. The idea of doing the same thing over and over again without taking a break or rest. For me, I would run three to four times one week, stop for several weeks, and then go back to running. I don't want to do this. I want to run consistently three to four times every week.

Happy holidays. If you celebrate Christmas, Merry Christmas. In this episode, I discuss how and why I started Johnnysbookreviews. I then discuss what I'm doing with this podcast for 2023.

Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens was made on December 19, 1843. 179 years later and it still is a story we know so well. There's roughly 16 movies based on the novel, and many people watch this movie during Christmas time. The premise of the book is where this old man, Scrooge, only cares about money and work. He hates Christmas until he is visited by three ghosts that show him his past, present situation, and future. In this episode, I review this book, discuss what I liked and disliked about the book, and any lessons I received from the book. If you don't celebrate Christmas, I still highly recommend reading the book because the book contains a ton of lessons that you can apply to your life. Have a happy holiday season!

The Last Ronin by Kevin Eastman (the co-creator of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) is the last surviving Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle. Shredder is gone, but his army has now taken over New York City. What's going to happen to this last turtle? This book is insane. In this episode, I review this book. I discuss what I liked and disliked about the book and any lessons I received from the book.

It's about that time of year. I love Hallmark movies during this time of year, and this is a good young adult Hallmark touch to the season. Tracy Andreen has written scripts for Hallmark movies, and this definetly felt like I was in a Hallmark movie with a younger couple.

Joanna Gaines is the co-founder of Magnolia. She flips houses with her husband Chip Gaines on on of the top HGTV shows, Fixer Upper. This couple also own a little mall in Waco called the Magnolia Market where local businesses are located and where their own business stores are. In this episode, I review the book, discuss what I liked and disliked about the book, and any lessons I received from the book.

Gender Queer is one of the most banned books. It has been banned in several Maine schools now. The reason why it is banned is because of the sexual explicit content. I argue the content isn't that bad, but I would say it should be read by people over 16-17 . In this episode, I review the book, discuss what I liked about the book, and any lessons I received from the book.

Colleen Hoover's book Heart Bones wasn't a bad book. Hoover is one of the top selling authors in the wolrd right now, and this book is another romance book. This one goes over Beyah's life. She's trying to find out who she is after her mom dies of a drug overdose. No where to go. She decides to head to a place she doesn't want to go, but she has no other choice: her father's place. During this summer stay with her father, she discovers her self again, falls in love with volleyball again, makes friends, falls in love with Samson, and forms a better bond with her father and step-mom. In this episode, I review this book, discuss what I liked and disliked about the book, and any lessons I received from the book.

Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy from Harry Potter) has produced a new memoir that dropped on October 18, 2022. This memoir has a ton of great information in it. He discusses in the book about his life, his family, mental health, being in the Harry Potter franchise, and how it was a struggle living in Los Angeles and how it broke him living there. In this episode, I discuss if the book is worth the read or not.
