Keeping an eye geopolitics enables us to understand the world we live in. In this weeks podcast, Harley Schlanger shares his perspective on global events. He ties in the attacks on President Trump by the Democrats with a broader agenda of movement towards a new global monetary system. He also illustrates how the Greta Thunberg side show deflected attention from Mark Carney’s announcement of major changes within the banking industry. There are moves towards making investment funds only available to projects complying with the energy reduction agenda of the Paris Climate Accord.

This is a crazy initiate that will cripple industrial society as we know it. Few people realise just how much we rely on cheap abundant energy to power everything we take for granted in our civilisation.

I don’t agree with everything Harley says, but the overall picture he presents is a useful adjunct to other sources of information for any inquiring minds seeking to make sense of the global political situation in a age where we can no longer trust the mainstream media. For example, Harley mentions that complete freedom would not work and he advocates a credit-based monetary system. I disagree profoundly on both counts. A credit-based monetary system is another word for a debt-based monetary system. I remain an advocate of decentralised ‘sound money’ (perhaps gold based but not necessarily) and a free market.

Most significantly in this interview, we heard about a report in the House of Lords that outlines the dangers of a Trump second term and the undesirabiity of such a second term. This gives light to the hidden motives behind the anti-trump sentiment reaching across the Atlantic, and is consistent with the rest of the picture Harley paints.
