To kick off hour three Nick talks all things Atlanta Hawks with Atlanta Hawks beat writer for the AJC Sarah Spencer. Nick starts things off by asking Sarah about the injury situation for the Hawks starting with Danilo Gallinari. Sarah says that “Danilo came down awkward on that ankle, and that Lloyd Pierce said that he could be out for a while, but they haven’t given a timeline on it.” Next Nick asks about Kris Dunn, and his injury situation and Sarah explains that he had microscopic surgery on his ankle and that he won’t even be evaluated for two weeks. Sarah continues by saying that “The Hawks will definitely miss his on ball defense while he is out.” To finish up the injury update Nick asks Sarah about Onyeka Okongwu, and Sarah says “He played three on three with live contact, and so while it might not be a matter of days before he comes back he is getting close.” Nick continues things by asking about the Hawks’ loss last night to the Nets, and what to make of it. Sarah says that “The Hawks show that they could stack up well with other elite teams in the east but you can’t give up 145 points, but this is a very powerful offensive team.” Next, Nick asks Sarah if keeping Kyrie locked up through three quarters is something they can take into the next game, and Sarah says “I think there is a lot of positive takeaways for the Hawks, and that it’ll be interesting to see what they bring and what they change up.” Next Nick asks Sarah if Lloyd Pierce will have an issue allocating minutes when all the guys are healthy. Sarah responds by saying “I think it will be difficult for him, but it is a good problem to have.” Sarah continues by saying “They’ve said this from the beginning, and will continue to have to say hey you guys will have to compete for minutes.” Sarah continues by saying “Some guys get hot some guys get injured, but it’s something they will have to keep an eye on throughout the year.” Finally, Nick asks Sarah about Bogdan Bogdanovic, and how well he’s been able to mesh with the team so quickly. Sarah responds by saying that “He’s earned some respect because of his work ethic, and he’s done a great job coming off the bench, and his shot has just been there.” Sarah continues by saying “The Hawks just didn’t have that type of firepower off the bench last year, and now he is coming in and draining threes and his personality fits in with the team as well.”
