To continue hour two Nick is discussing Dawgs withMike Griffith of the AJC. Nick starts things off by asking Mike about Georgia’s matchup with Cincinnati in the Peach Bowl, and Mike says that “this is the most engaging game of the New Year’s Six”, and Mike continues by saying that “Cincinnati is a team that believes they belong in the College Football Playoff, and Georgia is playing their best football.” Next, Nick asks Mike if he thinks players will ever get any sort of compensation for playing in these bowl games. Mike responds by saying that “Well Georgia is putting this money in their pockets, and feeding these guys all the time, and getting them chefs, and free tuition, and when you put the value all together they are getting a lot.” Mike continues by saying that “if the players sit out the fans don’t have to like it.” Next, Nick asks Mike about the college football TV ratings being down, and Mike says that “It’s been all sports, the NBA ratings are down and I haven’t seen the NFL, but there were a lot of social issues, and people said they would turn away from sports and they did.” Mike also mentions the fact that he’s glad that the college football season still went on because “the players that chose to play decided to play because they are following their dreams.” Finally, Nick asks Mike about the College Football Playoff and if he thinks Notre Dame and Alabama will be close, and Mike says “I don’t think so”, but Mike does go on to say that the post season Alabama team doesn’t always look like the regular season Alabama, now i’m not betting against Alabama, but you never know” and as far as Clemson and Ohio State goes he thinks the game could be competitive, but Mike isn’t sure about Ohio State and Justin Fields saying “he doesn’t have the same pieces around him.”
