Jon Loyd, the father of Bostin Loyd, was himself one of the top amateur bodybuilders competing in the California area in the early 1980's. Jon tells the story of how he came to own the first Gold's Gym franchise in the San Francisco area. (0:17:00) Jon also talks about competing against some of the best bodybuilders of his era including Mike Christian, Bob Paris, Rory Leidelmeyer and Gary Strydom. Jon remembers seeing some of the legends of bodybuilding training at the gym including Rod Koontz, Bob Reis, Lou Ferrigno, Mike Mentzer, Albert Beckles, Bertil Fox and Rachel McLish.
