This Dharma talk and discussion was given by the Reverend Jay Rinsen Weik Sensei at the Buddhist Temple of Toledo.  Rinsen Sensei discusses the physicality of sitting zazen and it’s importance to our practice before diving into case 31 of the Gateless Gate.  

“Joshu Investigates an Old Woman” tells of Master Joshu’s encounter with an old lady selling cakes at the side of the road.  But this is no ordinary woman.  What did Joshu see?  Rinsen discusses the difference between koan study and koan introspection as tools in examining these seemingly opaque tales.
