Joy is not determined on the circumstances we are standing in or in what we can manufacture on our own, but it is found in the presence of God and is based on His character-on Who He is. I love how David praises the Lord in Psalm 9:2, declaring that His rejoicing is because of God. Because the Lord remains the same, we always have a reason to rejoice.
