"I had an incredibly beautiful hospital birth at 40+5, unmedicated and unassisted for the most part. I used your meditations, breathing technique and oxytocin bubble the whole time, and I did the birth box at around 38/39 weeks. I didn't get pressured at all by any medical staff, they were very supportive and very hands off. I barely saw anyone until transition, where I needed more support and encouragement. I started preparing with your content on Spotify months before. We live in the Netherlands, which has a unique approach to birth because you only see a midwife throughout your pregnancy (if low risk) and never even speak to a gynaecologist, unless there is reason for concern.
You also get support the first week after birth (it's called kraamzorg), where a maternity nurse comes to your house every day to help out and check up on you and baby. In our case, we chose to stay at a birth center which was so fantastic I can't even describe it, we had support 24/7 during five days. We were taken care of and had a beautiful soft landing after the delivery. We went home feeling confident and strong and I took my time to really rest post partum, which I know is something you really encourage. I had such a positive experience and it really helped me to hear about other positive experiences on your podcast, I was so very scared of giving birth before being pregnant. I'd love to tell you all about it on your podcast, I think it would be a great fit. Since having that amazing experience I'm really passionate about pregnancy and birth, women are so amazing. I sincerely want to thank you for the remarkable work that you do, I consider you a friend and very important in my new mommy life. THANK YOU. "
Thank you SO much Juliana for sharing your incredible birth story with us!! xxx
