tried to keep this book review short and sweet so i didn't spoil too much of the book for you guys- especially for those of you who haven't read divergent- but i hope you still enjoyed it! make sure to check out illusion's delusions and help illusion grow their podcast. this is definitely a favorite of mine, so if you love wings of fire-related content, rambles, and book content in general, then you'll love it!
question of the day: what was a book or book series you loved when you were little? i loved the junie b. jones series (which kind of got me in trouble when i was younger...) and what my mom and I call the "clementine books." i don't really know what it's called, but you can probably look it up and find the title of the series?
have a great day!! :)

like we said, there's a lot of harsh and very adult topics involved in this series, so if you're a young listener (which is a lot of you), please do not read this series until you are an appropriate age. and if you do want to read this series and you're on the older side of the spectrum for young listeners, be sure to look at a synopsis before reading it and/or have a parent or older sibling read it before you do, because like we said- harsh topics. apart from the intense themes, i think this book series is a great mystery with some surprising plot twists at a time when you'd least expect it!
on the lighthearted side of book reviews, i think i'm going to read keepers soon (because rainy convinced me to... and because so many of you recommended it to me)! are y'all excited? i just hope i don't get emotionally attached to a character... *looks at heartless and the first arc of warriors* also, can y'all check out my spotify profile (it's {⭐︎junipers.jams⭐︎} and maybe even give me a li'l follow)? i've added a bunch of new playlists with both music and podcast episodes that I think some of you would enjoy. :)
question of the day: what's a book you've always wanted to read? for me, it's definitely the cruel prince by holly black or pretty much any book by sarah j. maas, since i've heard they're pretty awesome books (although i have to do a bit of research since it's on the older side of the spectrum of y.a. novels...).
have a great day!! :)

sorry for saying so many things to rainy (the host of talon talk, i shouted out his podcast about a year ago) in this episode... it was unplanned, but hope you enjoyed the shoutout, rainy (a proper one coming soon)? in this episode, i shared some life updates and rambled a bit about music, wishpool's return- at least, we hope, content ideas, and even had an interruption from my little brother duck, of course. also ignore my laugh when duck came in, the microphone made it really weird.
hopefully the better quality of this episode makes up for the horrible and slightly cringe episode i did about hozier... anyways, should i do a back to school advice episode? a couple of my listeners have asked me to give me some advice, so i thought i'd discuss the idea of it. the advice will probably be very horrible and would probably sound like the advice everyone gives, but does that sound like a good episode to you? 😅
have a great day!! :)

(quick disclaimer: i recorded this late at night- which means i'm quiet, so crank your volume- and with earbuds rather than a microphone, so the quality will be worse than my other episodes- i also rambled a bit before reacting just so this episode was a bit longer. however, if you don't want to listen to the rambles, skip to about 12 minutes in. enjoy!!)
if you like juniper yapping about ukulele, her hatred for frank ocean, band, hozier, and more, than this episode is for you! today (well, technically last night) i live-reacted to hozier's new release, unaired. and if you're on spotify, check out the thumbnail for this episode...
also, shoutout to rainy from talon talk for leaving me the nicest comment on spotify! I've had people ask me recently for recommendations on wings of fire podcasts that still post, and talon talk is the perfect mix of wof content and rambles. thanks rainy :).
question of the day: what's your favorite song you've heard on the radio recently? mine is obviously too sweet by hozier, but i also enjoy birds of a feather by billie eilish.
have a great day!!

so, uh, totally random and spur of the moment episode here! 🤷♀️ i was talking to my mom at like, 9:30 last night and we spent sooo much time reading my apple podcasts reviews.. so why not make an episode out of it? and here I am... yapping and remembering old listeners and reviews, along with talking about wishpool's upcoming return (we hope to record soon! 🤞). leave us some questions to answer, whether that's in the comments or emailing me your questions.
for those of you that have listened to my podcasting tips episode, you may have heard that I don't do shoutouts anymore, because i'm not in favor of favoritism... but I did do some shoutouts for podcasts in this episode. not picking favorites or saying I value any of my listeners less, just responding to people's reviews and trying to help other podcasters grow. hopefully you guys understand?
ALSO PLEASE COMMENT OR EMAIL QUESTIONS FOR ME AND WISHPOOL TO ANSWER FOR THE NEXT TIME SHE COMES ON
have a great day :)

this has been a highly requested episode, since many of my listeners are looking at starting a podcast, or are already podcasters! whether you're confused about the new spotify for podcasters update, or you just need a little nudge in the right direction to get a good start on your podcast, this is the episode for you. and even if you don't have a podcast or aren't looking to start one, you can still feel free to listen to this episode. from cover art to putting your analytics to use (which many of my tips in this episode relate back to using your analytics to create great episodes), I try to give many tips on how you can make a wonderful podcast your listeners will enjoy. :) also, if I sound like I can't speak for the life of me, that's because I had just woken up before I recorded this episode, and it took multiple tries to record this. 😅
question of the day: if you could see any artist in concert, what artist would you like to see? for me, it would be taylor swift (for obvious reasons), because she's such an animated performer, or noah kahan, because (from personal experiences) noah fans are so kind and laid-back... and because I have a need to scream every single word of 'she calls me back' and 'call your mom' with thousands of people. you may be asking, why? well, why not? 🤷♀️
before I sign off, I have many new playlists on my spotify (it's {⭐︎junipers.jams⭐︎} if you didn't know), so it would be great if you could check them out!
have a wonderful day :)

since you guys heard me obsess over this book so much in the last episode, I thought, why not give you guys a book review of one of my favorite books right now? divergent by veronica roth is a wonderful book (as I say many, many, many times in this episode... so bear with me when I call every single word in this book ✨wonderful✨), and it definitely needs to be shared with the world more!
in this episode, I explain how the factions (groups of people who have different beliefs, and blame certain things for an uprising many years ago) work in divergent, some of the plot- but however, I do not share everything because, let's be honest, spoiling a great dystopian book for someone just sucks all the thrill out of reading it, the characters. (also, I sound very bored at some parts, and I can assure you, I'm not... just tired and most definitely not prepared for band today. 😭)
however, there may be a couple of things to consider before reading this book. the main character, tris, has a relationship with someone nicknamed four towards the second half of the book. this means there are many romantic scenes in the book, and it might make some readers uncomfortable. the faction tris is in, dauntless, are thrill-seekers, but are also fighters. this leads to many chapters in the book with intense fighting, lots of violence, and many of the characters do use weapons. veronica roth also touches on the topic of death and suicide, so for my listeners who are sensitive to dark themes like that, this may be a hard book to read. if these topics makes you uncomfortable, you may want to research the book a little before you read it, or have someone else read it (whether that's a parent, older sibling, another family member, or a friend) to make sure it's an okay book for you to read.
apart from some of the themes expressed in this book, this is truly a wonderful (oh boy, here I go again!) novel to read with so many chapters that come with loads of excitement and adrenaline from just reading them. if you loved reading the hunger games, the giver, or any other dystopian/futuristic book, you may enjoy reading this! and if you're a listener who was here when I did wings of fire episodes and loved the tribal/royal element to the book, you may enjoy this, too!
question of the day: since school is starting soon, have you ever read a book for school and enjoyed it? for me, I think this was probably the mysterious benedict society, a great mystery book (but very lengthy...), which was technically summer reading for a class I took for a couple years, but still a great book.
bonus question of the day: any questions for me and wishpool? we're thinking about doing an episode soon, so if you could ask us some questions, that'd be great.
and finally, I've read and started so many books lately- like the second book of divergent- insurgent, heartless by marissa meyer, the inheritance games, and more, so there may be many more book reviews in the future, so stay tuned for some more book reviews!
have a wOnDerFuL day. :)

last year, I did a ramble episode, and that was enjoyed by many listeners, so I decided to do another one! however, I do get very off-topic sometimes and yap nonstop... but it's a ramble episode, so that makes total sense, right? then again, I do say a lot of things that make absolutely no sense... and completely lose my mind talking about how I can't remember my listeners names at the very end, so you may need to listen to this twice to understand my very funky brain. 😭👍
you may be wondering, "juniper, you promised book content, right?" and the answer to that is, my friend, yes of course, I am planning on reviewing divergent soon! on the topic of a listener-involved episode, does that sound like a good idea to you guys? I can't necessarily promise anything right now, but if you have suggestions on what you would like in a listener-involved episode, I would love some!
also, did you guys know my cover art was inspired by noah kahan's debut album, busyhead? that's part of the reason why I did, like, a ten minute long rant about how his music should be appreciated (ok, it was more like three minutes long).
question of the day: would you rather go one place for the rest of your life for free but can't go anywhere else, or be able to go to any place in the world but can't go anywhere twice?
hope you guys have a wonderful day! :)
p.s., clarification: not hating on the book "the hate u give," just saying it's a book with some really emotionally charged topics that are really intense. don't really recommend it for younger readers, though.

(yappity-yap-yap warning: I talk pretty fast, so you may want to slow down the episode just a tiny bit... ok, maybe a lot)
apologies for not uploading this sooner, this album came out the day before I went on vacation, and just a few days after spotify for podcaster did a huge update, which took the in-app recording features away. unfortunately, this made it hard to record in one day, so I had to postpone it. this episode was also originally going to be recorded with wishpool, but since our schedules didn't really line up that day, we just listened to the new album and recorded our ratings of the tracks in a notes document, so hopefully you still get some good episode content out of that! another thing you may notice- no more intro music! I know, very sad, since I do love my intro music very much, but since I recorded this in my voice memos app (with my microphone, so hopefully the quality was improved, and if not, sorry!), there was no way I could have added intro music. but, hopefully, you guys still enjoy this episode. :)
also, I shared my story of how I became a onerepublic fan! sorry for getting so, so, SO off-topic when I explained my story, but I hope you guys get a basic understanding of how much I love them 🫶. long story short (if you don't want to listen to me yap about my long obsession with onerepublic), I became a onerepublic fan in 2017 when my mom listened to "counting stars", and my obsession has been growing since.
question of the day: what is your favorite hobby? for me, it's either collecting CDs or reading/writing (though I prefer reading since my writing and grammar skills get thrown out the window sometimes).
bonus question of the day (for my listeners who are onerepublic fans): what is your favorite song from the new album?
and finally, a bonus bonus question of the day: sabrina carpenter's new album, short and sweet, is coming out in late august. would you guys like me to review the album when it comes out on friday, august 23?
hope you guys enjoyed this long-overdue episode, and have a wonderful day! ❤️

ah, yes, ✨the fault in our stars✨... quite literally one of the best books in existence. the book and the movie have won some (and by some, I mean many) awards. I love, love, love this book endlessly and have read it as many times as I've read moon rising (for those of my listeners who have been here a long while, you know ive read moon rising a LOT- and a lot is putting it lightly...), so I decided to review it on the podcast because it's a book that NEEDS to be shared. however, this book also focuses on some topics including death, cancer, loss of a loved one, and (in the book) frequent cussing (though this episode is not explicit). if those are uncomfortable for you to hear, I suggest holding off listening to this episode until you feel ready or listening with someone who understands why you feel uncomfortable listening to these kind of topics for moral support. also, there are some scenes in the book that aren't exactly easy to read- so for my younger listeners, you may want to wait until reading this or have someone who's older than you read it first just to make sure it's "safe."
by the way, some of the segments in this episode took me many, many, many tries to record, so I would greatly appreciate if you listened to it. no pressure, though, if you don't want to listen to me rambling about hazel grace and her splendiferousness (that's not a word, I know, I made it up), then that's completely fine.
oh, and of course, we can't let this be an episode without a question of the day! what is a book you have always wanted to read? for me, this would have to be the divergent trilogy, because I heard that they're great dystopian books! hopefully I can pick it up sometime soon and review it. :)
I don't normally do this, but since I've been loving this song lately, here's a song recommendation of the day- all my love by noah kahan has been stuck in my head for the past couple days... and I love it! if you could take a couple minutes out of your day and tell me what you think of it, that'd be awesome.
have a great day!
