And the TeaPop streak continues.
Antoine and I are a lot alike and yet very different. One skill we share is the ability to get others to open up and talk about themselves which is exactly what he does to me. This episode may be a little different in that it's heavy on questions being directed at me rather than at my guest, but it's very honest.
In this conversation we cover how I test people, my aggressive honesty, and how I'll never stop giving people second chances.
I liked Jeff the moment I met him (and yes, I met him through Tea Pop). He seemed genuine even though he straight up lied to my face seconds after we started talking.
This was another one of those hard episodes to cut because like Keara Glandt, Jeff and I love to get lost in conversation and just ramble from topic to topic. Seriously, before he even sat down Jeff was already jumping into the dialogue before I could even turn on the recorder.
In this interview we talk about how I am so obviously a comedian, the way I enjoy catching people in traps, and how much I enjoy being miserable.
Yeah, well it finally happened. I brought on a guest I just couldn't crack.
I cut it out of the final episode but during our recording I told Edgar that doing comedy with him was like playing a game of poker but to be more accurate it's a lot like playing three-card-brag (which is pretty much a form of poker). Edgar is probably the most low-key barista at Tea Pop and while he showed excitement at the opportunity to be on the podcast, I should have realized that it mean I'd be doing most of the talking.
In this conversation (if you'd call it that) I attempt to get Edgar to tell me something about myself only to realize there might not be much to say in the first place.
Helen is my BFF from Tea Pop. No special backstory, no crazy anecdote, it's something that just happened.
She was oddly hard to get on the show as fate and misfortune conspired so ruefully against us that we barely had time to record even after she arrived.
In this interview we talk about how we met, my observant nature, and need to find people's distinctions.
I was afraid we wouldn't even get to record this episode... and then sure enough it got cut short by the force of nature that is Sarah Palcher.
Victoria is certainly one of my favorite sister's of my exes. We met once almost half a decade ago at her oldest sister's wedding (not Sarah, obviously, I was dating her at the time) and since then I'd always had felt a deep appreciation for her (and this was before I even knew she was a Gemini!).
In this conversation we race the clock and fight off interrupting phone calls from Sarah as we discuss my bombastic solipsism, my pseudo-toxic friends, and almost get into a in depth diagnosis of my parents and their relationship with each other.
I love getting to know Igor because getting to know Igor means learning more about myself... Yeah that was written on the fly without even thinking about how it could be interpreted. Which is kind of perfect considering this episode starts right off the top with a huge discussion about the time I insulted one of Igor's closest friends the second time I met them.
My point is Igor has a natural ability to hone in and get people talking about the way they think and how they think about it… probably why he has his own podcast called "How Are You Thinking About?" and why I started hosting a second podcast with him called "What Are You Working On?"
In this interview Igor get's me to talk about how I communicate in a way that might not be conducive to positive interactions, my childhood trauma with my mom, and why I embraced my narcissistic proclivities and started a podcast that is all about people talking about me.

Chelsea is a pinch-hitter of sorts for the podcast but the kind of pinch-hitter that turns the game completely around.
I've known Chelsea a long time and for the bulk of that period it was as "the little blonde Christian girl that thinks I'm going to hell when she serves me my tea" (that's right it's another Tea Pop employee) and rightly so as I was a crass and judgmental prick to her upon our first meeting. You could say we've come along way.
In fact. We've actually never hung out or even seen each other outside of Tea Pop but when I asked if she had an opinion about me Chelsea's eyes lit up in a way I have never seen before.
In this conversation we talk about our first impressions of each other, how I hold people accountable, and my almost destructive passion to make the art that I want.
I'd love to say this episode lives up to it's title but you'll have to be the judge.
Megan's my manager of sorts. We met at an audition that we were both early for and then she stalked me on my facebook and we shortly became friends thereafter because I don't mind it when people show initiative. Since then she's accompanied me on many of my mic runs and even helped me get my work on tape. She's one of the few people who have had a significant impact in my stand-up career over the last six months and I'm eternally grateful for that.
In this interview we talk about... well... that's the problem: we don't really talk about anything. Megan had way less to say than I could ever imagine someone who apparently thinks I'm pretty great could, so instead I just bullied her for about an hour and change and made a twenty minute highlight reel for you to enjoy some fremdschämen. Feel free to tweet me if you think I went too far.
You're probably going to want to listen to "I'm Uncharacteristically Funny with Lamar Williams" before you listen to this. Not that it's required listening but it will certainly add to the experience.
I don't think there's any way to properly introduce Andrew. You simply must experience him. He's the Merchant to my Gervais, the MVP of my first feature "The Burden of My Company", and (as I say ad nauseam) the funniest guy I know.
In this conversation we hash out our issues between each other on the set of our first feature film, my scorned bromance with Allen (the final piece to the "Burden" puzzle), and Andrew's paranoia.
Bout time we had this title...
I met Carolyn begrudgingly when my Director D.W. Allen (or whatever he is going by these days) chose her over my pick for our lead actress in the still unseen short film 'Quarter Turn'. After we wrapped I thought I'd never see her again only to find myself begrudgingly attracted to her personality via her facebook feed. So I asked her out. And she said I was too young for her. And we left it at that. Until now... where I figured why not bring her on the podcast! Surely this will make for interesting conversation.
In this interview we talk about behind how my first project with one of my best friends was the beginning of the end, my history performing comedy in Los Angeles, and my borderline psychotic egotism.
