  • I'm A Manipulative Therapist with Marta Mack

    And now for something different.

Marta and I have known each other since high-school. She was part of a group of alt-girls (we're talking "alternative" by Radnor High-school's -- the most overfunded public school in the county, rivaling the pretension of local private schools -- definition) whom I use to antagonize during lunch. Of the four of them, Marta was the one who grew the most fondness for me and her and I continued our sordid relationship through college and into so-called "adulthood". We've have our ups and downs and -- like most of my longest standing relationships -- our moments of radio silence. But she did me a solid and came all the way from Philadelphia to record an episode for me and for that I'm eternally grateful to have her as my number one fan.

In this conversation (which does become a full out argument), we touch upon our history together, what makes me worth keeping around, and wether it is appropriate to wait inside the LAX terminal (as opposed to outside) for someone to pick you up.

  • I'm A Conundrum with Sarah Palcher

Sarah is one of my favorite people. I'd say she's my left-hand gal even though she's right-handed. We met on a blind date, ended up in a relationship for a year, and became better friends when we finally stopped trying to make things work. Suffice to say: we have a unique relationship but those are obviously the best kind. In this interview, we get nostalgic over past episodes and past experiences, talking about my devious (if not just disconcerting) first impression, my confounding (possibly petty) pride over gross antics, and a long, slightly existential (if not pedantic) conversation on the distinction between playing to win and playing to have fun.

  • I'm A Great Character with Bobby Hooper

I met Bobby my first night living on Bree's couch, who you might remember from the previous episode. Bobby has always been like a surrogate brother to me. A kindred spirit of the lost dreamer I see in myself. Bobby has helped me out in a number of ways, providing me with his car for my short film productions, brokering my own car that I had bought on an ill advised whim, and even introducing me to one of my best-friends: Sarah, who happens to be next weeks guest. You could say it's a trip down memory-lane as we celebrate the beginning of the new year.

In this conversation: we don't talk about any of that stuff in the previous paragraph. In fact, Bobby is notorious for going on tangents and I'm a sucker for a good digression. We do however get a little topical while talking about the small ways in which I've impacted Bobby's life and the way he perceives some of my guests to pussyfoot around their negative feelings towards me as well as revisit my petty aggravations over certain people who refuse to come on the show.

  • I'm Not A Total Nightmare with Breeanna Judy

I lived on Bree's couch for the majority of my first year in Los Angeles and since then she has always considered me a part of her urban family and I've alway taken advantage of that relationship to the best of my benefit. Case in point: Bree saved my ass this week by jumping in last minute to fill a spot the original guest decided to bail on last minute (and I'm clearly not bitter as this description and podcast content will attest to). Regardless, this may not be the podcast guest you were expecting but it is the guest you need. Bree's honesty and critical nature has always been a boon to my excessive desire to find my blind spots and figure out how to fit in the world. Too bad she has the memory of a sieve.

In this interview we explore the limits of Bree's memory as I attempt to remind her of all my mad-cap shenanigans while living under her roof, why I'm destined to be a divorcee with children of varying mothers, and revisit a pick-up line bit from an earlier episode that apparently is not as clever as I initially thought.
