Israeli officials hope a breakthrough will be achieved in the Gaza ceasefire and hostage release deal talks in the next few days. Knowledgeable officials who spoke with Kan Radio described the talks in Doha as constructive.

 Lebanon’s deeply divided parliament is set Thursday to try to elect a new president, potentially ending a 2-year long political vacuum and ushering in a degree of stability for a country reeling from its bloodiest war in decades.

Suleiman Frangieh who was Hezbollah's candidate for PM  said on Wednesday that he was withdrawing his name from consideration.

For more than two years Lebanon has been paralyzed by political gridlock and led by a weak caretaker government through a series of upheavals, including economic collapse, the destructive  war between Israel and  Hezbollah and the collapse of the Assad regime in neighboring Syria.

Two women in their 60s and a man aged about 40  were murdered and 10 people were wounded in a shooting attack near the West Bank settlement of  Kedumim, west of Nablus.

  The terror attack was committed in the village Funduk, on Route 55 in Samaria. Two terrorists armed with rifles shot at two private Israeli vehicles and a bus.

  The 2 women fatalities were traveling in one private vehicle, and the third is a man who was on board the bus.

KAN's Mark Weiss spoke with local resident Yigal Dilmoni, founder of American Friends of Judea and Samaria, who says the IDF should act in West Bank Palestinian villages, such as Funduk, like it acts in Gaza.

Dr. Elana  Sztokman was raised and socialized into religious Zionism, and moved to Israel as a young mother where she devoted herself to Orthodox Judaism, education, and fighting for Israel. Until she landed in a pro-Israeli advocacy job and discovered what she terms 'some dark underpinnings' of the ideology that she had dedicated her life to.

Her new book, due to launch later this month, is called My Jewish State. KAN's Mark Weiss spoke to her about the book.
