US President Donald Trump has arrived in Beijing at the start of a two-day visit during which he will hold high-stakes talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Before departing for China, Trump told reporters in Washington he and Xi will have a "long talk" about Iran, but insisted "I don’t think we need any help".

Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem has received a $200 million donation from the Koum Family Foundation, established by WhatsApp co-founder Jan Koum, the largest single donation to an Israeli hospital. The gift will support construction of a 24-story medical tower that will significantly increase the capacity of the hospital, and include new and expanded surgical and emergency care facilities. The heads of Israeli universities have reacted angrily to the move by Education Minister Yoav Kisch to advance legislation imposing financial sanctions on educational institutions unless they commit to keeping politics out of academia.

“We are putting an end to the politicization of university presidents,” Kisch tweeted. “For academic institutions that enter the political arena, we will advance legislation that would deny them funding.”
